Good day Ladies and Gents,

I am looking to upgrade my current setup and would love some advice.

Current (don’t hate to much)
AKG K712 Pro
FIIO E10K

What I’m looking for:

Open Back
Balanced

I’m an avid gamer that primarily plays FPS not at the top end anymore but still like to be competitive.

But primary focus is going to be daily driven, meetings music and movies.

Music I enjoy is more Alt rock, acoustic type of songs. I really love to listen to the vocals and definitely instrumental. Good baseline, ( Lindsey sterling) really don’t care for bass that much. I like it to be there but never want it over anything else.

Possible planar (worried about lack of stage/ imaging)
Focal Clear (tbh don’t like the aesthetic)

Dac/ Amp
Feel free to make some recommendations. This is honestly where I have no idea where to begin.

I’d take a look at the K612. Less bass and warmth than your K712, it has a less surrounding and more in front and laid back type of soundstage.
Downsides: Non-detachable cable, a bit harder to drive and not balanced, but one of the most natural sounding headphones, its main sonic weakness being lack of sub bass.
