šŸ”¶ 7HZ Timeless Planar

You might want to check if that loose connector is spinning, as it could spell trouble, had one like that. Mark it with something on the edge(marker or scratch it a bit), plug a cable(preferably something with tighter fit, like fiio cables), spin it on its axis and after removing the cable check if the marking is still in the same place.

I marked it, plugged the cable in, did 180 degree spin. dot is in the same spot and itā€™s also loose in a similar way on fh3 and it works just fine. I guess a loose mmcx on a cable isnā€™t a bad defect to have compared to worse things. However, the Fiio FH3 stock cable has different ends on the mmcx, itā€™s not flat but forming a cone so I donā€™t know if I wanna risk trying to plug it in level especially when it might not even.

Well, it does appear like the pin inside the mmcx connector on the right is bent a little which prevents it from spinning as easily, donā€™t really know what else could cause it.

It still works fine tho.

Tuning wise itā€™s actually very similar to Moondrop Starfield which means a very similar EQ

They really are quite a lot Starfield without the congestion issues it seems altho out of the box they do sound clearer.

With EQ, a solid sounding IEM what can say.

Hereā€™s what I use now

I canā€™t stress this enough, but this iem is quite sensitive to tips and deep/fit insertion. I found that my right ear fit is slighlty different than my left ear, and that changes my percived sound a lot. Last night I was trying again different tips and fit (deep/pressure) and I found the right spot. Now I can comfortably put them on in the sweet spot without much hasle.

I strongly advice to anyone that has problems with percived sound or maybe if you feel some kind of channel imbalance to first try different tips and insertion for both ears.

So far Iā€™m very happy with the Timeless. The tuning is almost perfect for my taste, the detail retrieval is amazing and the sub bass is quite good. I think that the only lacking aspect may be soundstage, but since Iā€™ve never tried any of the best iems in terms of soundstage I canā€™t really compare.

Now Iā€™ll try to get a new cable and other tips to get the best comfort and sound.

hooo boy timeless is nuts for gaming. I was playing a little halo infinite earlier and the precise imaging and that outside but inside your head feeling with all that crisp speedy gunshot sounds its just sooooo immersive.

Before I write to HifiGo (where I ordered it from), how many of you have one side (left) spinning freely and the other having some resistance?

Itā€™s the only complaint I have. I did detach the cable on both sides and to me it looks like one side of the cable has the pole in the middle bent slightly and I assume that since itā€™s the left side thatā€™s straight and spins on the connector with no resistance itā€™s how the left should be too but just making sure.

Thanks.

Not sure if itā€™s related but just throwing this out there (cable side):

And this one (IEM side):

Now its stiff like the other side

Othanks for me the same problem or its not a problem but i like more stiff in both sides and one was spinning freely around so your tip is really helpful for fd5

I have figured out what burn-in is. Burn is when you start using your Timeless again and realise it slighty less loud or louder then usually, even at the same volume setting of your equipment. After some time you realize its not the entire music but only a certain group of frequencies.

This is how burn-in on a Timeless sounds like.

So, apparently Linsoul f*ed up and oversold the Timeless. Now they say theyā€™re ā€œwaiting on 7Hz to deliver moreā€. Canā€™t say Iā€™m completely surprised, guess Iā€™ll have to wait.

Can you explain that ? Sorry for my English

During burn-in, the loudness of some frequencies change. The sound is as a result of this better after the burn-in is complete.

I have this as well. It sounds like driver flex, and itā€™s worst on the right. Itā€™s audible on the left only if I hold the IEM and move it in or out of my ear in a particular way. I donā€™t consider it at the level of a problem on the left. But on the right, itā€™s clicking with any jaw movement. Sometimes from other head movements as well. If Iā€™m totally still itā€™s fine. But head movement and I get this clicking/crinkle noise. Itā€™s not related to the cable. Iā€™ve seen other people report this as well, another guy had this issue in his case on the left and the right was OK. It seems to be an issue.

Welcome to HFGF

That sounds more like crinkle as driver flex usually settles down once an IEM is seated/fitted correctly (at least with DDā€™s) I donā€™t think crinkle or flex has ever been a problem with planar IEMā€™s to my knowledge before but I maybe wrong?

Yes, with any DDs itā€™s only something I have ever noticed sticking them in, when they get seated itā€™s fine. Has never been a problem for me. I have read of this being a potential issue with DD IEMs but Iā€™ve not had it before.

This one, it is, it persists, particularly with jaw movement. Itā€™s pretty low level but any quiet passage itā€™s for sure annoying.

There are relatively few planar IEMs so maybe fewer reports overall. But this specific set, there seem to be quite a few reports of it. Iā€™m pretty sure what Iā€™m experiencing with them is the same issue. Planar diaphragms are very light, and this is a big one, possibly the change of pressure is enough to push it against something that it can click.

Other than this, they sound great.

I had this for a short time but itā€™s not an issue any moreā€¦ I thought it had to do with the tips doing some kind of clicking noise with jaw movement.

Yes, this this this. Itā€™s not ruining my experience as long as the music plays at normal level, but if Iā€™m walking and theres quiet fragment, or on/off moment, when there are gaps in the music - ā€œclick click click clickā€. Rips me outta the immersion haha. But when Iā€™m still these are amaazing. So clear and fast, and the bass extends like crazy.

Greetings just got my timeless from my 11.11 linsoul haul and right now in search for the best fitting tips for them
Right now I had the most success with cp500 cause my CP 100 didnā€™t fit right i didnā€™t want to force final e on it before I did a check if they fit, so if anyone has tried it please enlighten me
Otherwise wise Iā€™ll try CP 145 and 155 or are there other community approved tips i should try ?
Would be thankful for every tip ^^

Got the Timeless Gen II 3 days ago. No QC issue noticed so far, no channel imbalance either.

After approx. 12 hours of listening time, I am very enthusiastic about the comfort. Tight seal with transparent/black stock mounted pair of tips (after having tried almost all tips included in the package). I rarely got such a secured fit until now, it helps to dive deep into the music.

Usually, I like to play with tips and cables, but here, there is no need. This delivery is perfect as it is, especially at USD 200.-.

Soundwise, I am satisfied. More than satisfied, actually. OOTB, I was a bit underwhelmed by the mids. They were thinner as I like them to be. I am a Ā« mid-head Ā» and my recent IEMs purchases took this aspect into account. The Timeless was more an impulsive purchase, out of curiosity, if I can say so. Now, I am into the brain burn-in process and the mids seem to gain more body and substance. Story continuesā€¦

The bass is a strong asset from the Timeless. Impactful, quick and precise. It fits my bill and with the multiple musical genres I listen to.

The upper mids section is just as energetic as it should. Then, the treble is extended enough to sound realistic. No harshness of any kind so far.

The Timeless being less mid-centric or relaxed sounding than my last purchases, I find them a bit fatiguing after 2-3 hours. Nothing bad really, but itā€™s an intense and immersive listen.

My source is a warmish/analogue sounding DAP (Calyx M) and I think both pair very well.

Expectations fulfilled for the time being.
