Did you know that the timeless can present perfect 3d soundstage when you are using foam tips and a silver cable? Today I played CSGO using the Timeless. Perfect soundstage and imaging.
Mine is on the way. I am not quite sure where to begin āalteringā them when the set arrives. I have some Sony triple comfort tips, Complys, and Spiral Dots lying about, although I am curious about the Spinfit 100+. Also have an ALO silver-plated copper cable I could replace the stock with. Do you folks suggest listening for a few days with the stock tips and cable, and then messing about? Which first, new cable, or new tips?
Just test out everything as soon as you take it out of the box.
Ananda. The timeless planar note presentation is smooth like the ananda. But the timeless tonality is harman-ish tuned. So it has much more elevated bass and amazing sub bass. The ananda rolls off the bass.
This is a memory comparison, but when I first put the timeless on I was like āwow, this feels like ananda with actual bass responseā.
The timeless is my favorite planar due to the tonality. I donāt know of any over ear planar tuned like this. The planar I have heard that comes closest to timeless is another IEM: audeze euclid. And the timeless is more fun.
Anywho, I am probably one of the few people here who thinks we should directly compare IEMs and over-ears. So there you go.
Mine is now connected to an ancient Alpha Design Labs iHP-3M, probably a brand that no one has heard of.
The bass is thickened and the trebles no longer bother me.
The idea of ācoreā isnāt the same back in the day. Nowadays they splice the copper into fine strands and it improves ergonomics. The cable is more bendy and pliable. Old cables like ADL are stiff and unforgiving unless paired with a shirt clip. Anyhow the cable has been with me for almost a decade, still works like a charm going from Shure 535, 846 to Timeless.
Itās a damn good cable that stood the test of time.
New review from Michael Bruce
TBH itās making me want to sell them on without even bothering to unpack/try them when they come. Iām a raw 3.5 jack or Apple dongle kind of a person, Iām not planning to invest in the charging time / cost / bulk of throwing higher power into my IEM setup in order to get good results. Opening them will just lower what I can ask for them.
Anyone finding these super impressive on very low power sources such as phones?
They still sound good to me straight out of my LG tbh. Just ordered the new Fiio KA3 dongle so Iāll be able to compare to something stronger shortly.
Are we talking about an LG model with a quad DAC on board?
Yeah v40 thinQ low impedance mode I suppose. Not sure how much power this pushes
Iāve ran mine from my Samsung S-10 not quite as good as running off a BTR5 but still like 90% there
I canāt watch the video right now, but I have my timeless on the phone and on a desktop amp. I donāt think there is much of a difference. Donāt get discouraged by a single individualās opinion. I am sure there must be a lot of people hating the timeless sound signature, but then there are a lot of people (like me) who love it. I think the timeless is partly so hyped, because there arenāt many alternatives when it comes to sound signature at that technical levelā¦ especially at that price point.
I run mine from my Samsung A50 via the USB and a simple Ā£10 DAC dongle converter, using USB Audio Pro, and I get a great sound. I prefer to run it via my Ifi Hip DAC, the response is significantly improved, however, I have not come across an IEM that does not benefit from this approach. I am more than happy to commute/shop/sit in the pub etc with just the A50 and Timeless.
The Timeless is so good I will be buying my son one, and not for Christmas or his birthday, just so he can have this level of sound quality in his life.
As many others have said, you will be fine. I didnāt watch his review (I donāt watch anyoneās review of the timeless at this point), because I have already found them to be exceptional in many ways. I really donāt care if others have issues with them. They are crazy good for my preferences.
Try them. The Apple dongle does well even if you need to blast it (You may need to deal with defeating Appleās ādonāt hurt your earsā volume control insanity), but you likely do not āneedā amplification for quality purposes. You may want it for volume purposes if you like to blow your ears off. I canāt see anyone listening long term at the volumes the Apple Dongle produces with this set.
Enjoy them when they arrive!
^^^ Agree but still watch 'em
I wonder how the Timeless stacks up to some expensive Chifi like the Thieaudio Monarch? Honestly, I donāt expect much more technical performance.
Having both I can say that The Monarch mkii is a different animal altogether.
You canāt really compare the Timeless with anything as the planar driver has unique properties.
The Timeless holds up surprisingly well but if you gave me the choice, itās a no contest but YMMV.
Having a bunch of cheap IEMs in store for fun listening is important for me, so I own a few of KZ IEMs. Using the timeless for critical listening is such a good idea. I can wear it for ours given how light it is.
Just got these in yesterday and I have to say overall these things are damn impressive, I had to tip roll a bit and I changed the cable to a balanced tripowin cable and had to do a small bit of eq in the 500 hz to 1.5 hz region to give the mid range a bit more body and presence (mainly for bass guitar) and drop down the 8k spike by about 2.5 db as stock they had a bit too much zing for me. Other then that the tuning is damn near bang on for my preferences, and this setās bass, resolution and vocal texture along with its ability to convey a very atmospheric staging on certain songs is just nuts for the price. When these things trade blows with my Oratory 1990 EQād Elears and actually out resolve them, I was blown away. I still think the Elears are my favorite for their tonality, dynamics, and sheer musicality but the fact that the timeless is an extremely close second is to me insane for a $200 iem.
