Sorry to reply so late. Moondrop is known to have very bad QC, especially on arias and starfields.
Regarding S12, QC and costumer service is on point, especially if you buy from them. @shuoer can help you in no time, the best around.
I always thought moondrop is and was a top brand in terms of quality control. I had the aria and found it to be very well made.
moondrop has cable issues usually not iem issues although Iāll say I didnāt have issues with my Starfield cable besides it being a bit jank the aria cable is probably the best stock cable moondrop has, the Kato cables (stock and bonus) were bad lots of compaints about them breaking within hours of recieving them but they mailed out replacements for free to anyone who either contacted them or the sellers so I feel that their customer service is fine
probably pulling up the lower frequencies. Have you tried pulling up the 15khz range? Seem that audible frequencies should be the target. But interesting that you can hear it clearly. Iāll try it for grinsā¦
I settled on the Whizzer SS20 tips. Finally perfect tips. The large ones are perfect.
My combo is now: oratory1990 EQ + KBear Rhyme cable + Timeless + Whizzer SS20 tips
They look well made, but the soldering inside the shells is too thin, making them die within 6 months. It seems the left bud is way more prone to die than the right one.
One other thing can indicate they donāt test enough before putting on sale: the mate Kato was an option at first, then they figured the mate coating was too hard to apply on the product and discontinued itā¦ Any serious business would have see that BEFORE they produce/announce that option. Moondrop didnāt.
So do you think kato is much more reliable?
I would say order from somewhere with good customer service and go with what you heart desires
I didnāt see QC issues with Kato, but then I didnāt search for it and given the reviews and asking price, is has not been sold as much as the Aria, I guess.
One thing is certain: Iām wary about moondrop now that my left Aria died on me.
what a mess for god. quality control is rock bottom.
I hope my hifiman edition xs will last a long time because it hasnāt been cheap. You will say that senheisser is much better but I remember once I tried the hd599 and it came completely mute on one side. anyway.
back to the topic ie there Iām still struggling. I had thought about lokahi audio because trustworthy people have told me that it is top but it is another mmcx so for now hana takes the lead. Price/quality ratio is top but I want to be cautious.
I have had an H40 for over a year and half. It is mcx and I use it enough over the time. I definitely do not remove cable but outside of that itās been very reliable. Wish itās sound was as good
I Hope your timeless doesnt broke in 1 moth!! A lot of break in a few weeks.
Maybe the timeless in the best of cases does not break and lasts about 5-6 months.
Not the best way to wish something for someoneā¦ but thanks I guess.
Mine works perfect after 4 months, I do take care of them nevertheless.
Had mine 5 months and theyāve been used a lot ā¦no issues here.
Iāve had mine for 5 months as well. Pretty much have used them every single day give or take, switched out cables 3 times and Iāve not had a single issue.
Sameā¦ used them a lot in the last 4 months or so without any issues at all (2nd batch with hard case for tips)
How can you say best case is 5-6 month, when they basically only exists for 6 months or so (at least that is roughly the time frame people started buying them)? fake newsā¦
Most of the ones that have broken Iām afraid he treated them like a baby. But this is chi-fi, enjoy today, tomorrow it might not work anymore.
That is precisely why, my friend. Several users who bought them in September/October no longer work. Those iems are already 5-6 months old. Thatās why I say in the best case scenario.
Itās not fake news, the web, forums and YouTube is full of failures of this headset like no other Iāve seen in this price range. You enjoy them now.
Got any links to this āfull of failuresā accusation?
