Well hopefully we will find a consensus of the sound. Does it have bass mixed reviews. I believe HBB because of his track record hoping for verification from those that get it. Interested how it compares to the Dusk sound wise . I am not worried about fit and Dusk presents no problems to me blessed with right shaped ears.
OK so both tracks have plenty of bass for my taste and the Timeless was way better than my Legacy 2 which i ran a quick comparison and that has a dd.
This listen was done from your links on my Samsung tablet.
Unfortunately Iâve no idea what your requirements/expectations are for bass so not sure this will be of much help so ymmv.
Not sure if you were responding to me but I know the bass on L2 and if it has more I be happy
Ok did some A/B vs Hifiman Sundara.
First the resemblances: airy sounding, strings never sound sharp bass never bloated. Great ânaturalâ timbre, highly detailed.
The differences: Timeless has more sub-bass and the sound signature is overall more âbassyâ. Timeless slams harder. Whereas Sundara is âneutralâ. For an IEM the soundstage is great but it cannot compete with a open back headphone like Sundara. This is mostly noticeble when listening to orchestral music for example: Beethoven 9 - Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Riccardo Muti [when the instruments and the singers âcollideâ]. If you are looking for âoutside your headâ sound. Open back headphones have no match and IEMâs just canât compete.
To summarize: Timeless is imo overal a great IEM and finally one in planar form tuned ârightâ for my taste.
So did i find the Sundara in IEM form? NO
Did I found a new IEM i really really like? YES
have you experienced any harshness or fatiguing in the treble area ?
No harshness nor fatiguing, but i never used the stock tips. Because the fit wasnât good for me. Your situation could be different. The test is done using the Sony tips that came with Sony N3. I think those are called the Sony EPEX 10 tips. Test is done from SMSL A8 with flac files and EAC3 files.
@Rikudou_Goku any review without @Ohmboy special burn in device and at least 1000 hours, Iâm callin SusâŠ
Most important thing to do imo is change the tips ASAP unless they fit you well. The ones that came with the IEM is like a budget version of xelastics done wrong
In terms of the level of detail and resolution, would you say they are on par or close to the Sundara or behind it?
The Sundara is technically impressive, especially for itâs price.
Very close. But if you look at the sub 200 price of Timeless itâs a no brainer imo.
Unless you really hate bass and want pure neutral sounding IEM. Timeless is a no brainer especially for the current price. And planar really sound different from DD, BA or EST imo.
Where did you get it from sub $200? Iâll prob wait for 11.11 and see how low it goes. Donât have a need for it at the moment as I just got the Teaâs which I like with EQ, but would love to find something that doesnât need EQ.
But if you can ALWAYS test before you buy if possible. Never spend your own hard earned money on someone else words. Everyone hears different everyone have different taste and some, luckily none bad experiences here. But at the other forum people have a different âagendaâ with glowing reviews.
Yea, Itâs hard to do that here as I donât know any local shops that carry anything like this. Amazon is my best bet with free returns, but the Timeless states you can only return with the box unopened on their Amazon listing. May way for them to arrive at FBA to try them out.
Stuff that came if from todayâŠ
Will have proper unboxing photos of the Timeless eventually. Work is kicking my butt this week. Thatâs also a second Mele (gold) and thought Iâd give the jelly cable a little love and check it out.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the Timeless.
You can get better price by chatting with those sellers on Aliexpress they usually give 5-10% extra discount on the already discounted price (guess they are used to people / expect people to haggle more?). Usually Le electric something audio and DUDO audio have extra sales discount. But if you can wait for 11.11. Better to just wait. Since more impressions are coming in soon i think so you can make a more informed purchase decision.
Just my two cents
Congrats!
Beautiful photo as always
I look forward to read your thoughts, and opinions on them.
I would say they are very similar, with Timeless having more mid-bass and quality(and a vastly superior tone/naturalness and transparency to the overall sound). Easy choice there.
Exactly. But outside of that highest/deepest level of bass performance, itâs still great, satisfying, quality bass.
Nozzles:
(<) Tape Pro.
(>) Starsea, AST, L2, FD3(large tube), FD5(large tube), AS10, ZSN Pro, BLON 03, Crescent, FH3(slightly).
(=) BLON A8, OH10(slightly smaller than Timeless), YBF, VK4(pretty much =).
Well, hereâs a general IEM rundown of mine, as someone who think Timeless is probably the best overall IEM Iâve heard under $1000 so farâŠ
- Tea (way overpriced, dull, dark, light bass, bad fit; great with elec guitar. Timeless probably better for everything, even including elec guitar, unless you want a darker sound)
- Oxygen (natural vocal perfection, otherwise technically poor in both directions; Timeless I see as better at everything except vocal naturalness and treble smoothness)
- L4 (great balance, but no depth, peaky; I canât think of anything it did better than Timeless, unless you prefer general DD sound over planar)
- FD5 (incredible bass/stage/air/detail/extension, but definitely sharp/bright; Timeless far better balanced, less sharp/bright, but not as insane bass, stage, or air)
- FD3 Pro (great tuning and bass with wide tube, but treble detail fairly quiet; treble tube detail sounds overly bright and artificial; it has a great tuning, so itâs probably a driver sound preference and price determination VS Timeless, with superior detail, treble extension, transparency, but less bass quantity & density)
- FH3 (Great bass and great(?) mids, aggressive treble lacking upper detail/extension/air, loose fit; Timeless has decidedly(not a huge difference) better treble balance/detail/extension/tone, better imaging, more mid-bass, but less sub-bass meat and stage space)
- ZAS ( them; bass boosted VS Timeless, and more relaxed treble; less detailed and transparent, but definitely more smooth & fun, without being too bassy. A favorite IEM of mine)
- Starsea (Really good, but rather compressed sounding and technically merely average VS Timeless)
- L2 (Just OK; L3 is better, but both have a weird tone; Timeless has far better transparency, detail, speed, realism, but L3 has bigger stage and better fit)
- AST (Love how unique these sound, though far from realistic/natural; much more bass, warmth, smoothness and relaxed treble VS Timeless)
- Penon Orb (Lots of bass, poor detail, and terrible tone; Timeless beats everything except bass quantity, probably)
- ISN H40 (Bloated bass, but should have smoother, warmer, possibly better sounding vocals than Timeless; Timeless has significantly more detail and treble extension, IIRC)
- Blessing 2 (Hated them; too bright and terrible fit; Timeless definitely should have less treble/brightness, though still not relaxed. Canât remember what the rest of B2 sounded like; probably like Reecho Spring, which I thought L3 was better tuned)
- OH10 (Rather light bass, except sub-bass; rather hollow and unnatural/artificial/metallic sounding, with good treble detail, sparkle and extension; heavy fit; thinner/lighter, more mid-centric and smoother treble VS Timeless. This is a nice, unique alternative sound to Timeless or Tea)
That sucks. Mobius sounded excellent to me! Shame that it gets SO hot, so quickly, and has all those stupid buttons nobody cares about.
Appreciate the run down but if you can not get good seal with Blessing 2 you ca not say what they are like. I do not ISN them but I have listened to them for a good bit of time
