I am using the black eartips because they are completely smooth and donāt bother my ears at all. I need to go through and test how the different eartips sound though, my choice was just based on initial comfort tests.
I use all the tips.
My goal with tips is comfort over sound as I have sensitive ears. Right now I have timeless in with sedna earfit lights. These have been a spectacular compromise between sound and fit. But cp145 and cp100+ are all good. I also like azla crystal. Xelastec are good as well, but tend to be better for longer listening where I wonāt be interrupted and have to take the IEMs out.
Really, any tip that has a longer distance from the end of the nozzle to the end of the tip, and has a good non-slip fit works really well.
The wider bore tips will let more treble through while the narrower will enhance the bass.
I also like the epro horn tips, but I find tip lines that have 5 or 6 sizes (or more) in their range tend to have an easier āidealā fit. Spiral dots also work really well for me, but something about the sedna earfit sizing works just a bit better.
All the tips. I am not kidding.
I am in the same boat, that is just my silicone ear tips. I have some foam too, but I donāt find them comfortable. I also have some Final Series E, they come in a nice plastic boxes.
My favorites are the Final Series E and the Spinfit CP100+, but XELASTEC tips get a nice seal even if they feel odd at times. I even use the CP240 double flange tips on my Aria occasionally.
Final E are a mixed bag for me. I have them in every size. They can sound tinny and broken. But it is highly IEM dependent. CP240 I also have in every size, and they are fire in my ears most of the time. But they also have amazing sound on many IEMs. Xelastec work in every size for me on some IEMs (dusk is one). The key is that they mold to the situation, including on the nozzle. So if the nozzle allows the tip to slip further down, it will. The Zen has this problem. The timeless does not.
My right ear would like one size larger tip than my left for comfort (on those six size lines). But I canāt tolerate the feeling/sound differences so I donāt do it. And I have to find a size that works in both ears.
I have 3 drawers that size filled with tips. Some of them are the tips that came with IEMs though. THose kind of donāt count.
That is what it is on some IEMs, thank you, I couldnāt figure it out. Some sets Xelastec are great on and others, they just did weird things, and I think you explained it.
Thanks @Dynamic and @John_W_Clark ā¦ dem tips are no joke. hahaha. time to look for tips for me. thanks again
Now thisās super niceā¦
Bass is tighter and the sub is still strong on
Detail and soundstage on a $200 set
Backseat freestyle
Super solid on that chain and transducer for sure
Damnā¦ that amp looks sexy
The flat sound of the timeless is actually an advantage. Metal and especially video games sound so enjoyable on them.
Thank youā¦It works great with those tubes and the Timeless = a Mini Z1R for -
Folks say no soundstage?..they scale well running Timeless with MT-604 with Siemenās tubes and those drums @circa 19 secs areā¦yes way, way out there left
Anyone else tried these without the grills and foam?
My 2nd pair has dispatched so I can do a comparison but wondered if others had tried it.
I am guessing the tube & timeless combo is working well.
I have been thinking this might be the time to start thinking about a tube amp, this hobby just finds new ways to take your money.
Havent tried that but just did some measurement with vents covered with a sticky tape.
Red is uncovered, green is all 3 covered.
Pretty interesting, and might prove useful as i do find them sometimes to have too much bass for my taste. Doesnt look that it affects the rest of the FR, though my measuring rig isnt perfect, YET :).
Will try at a later point what changes would covering 1 or 2 holes have.
lol, I had to
Hahaha, ok, to each his own i suppose .
I did say sometimes though
Since you like your bass, this one goes to you . Covering the single vent near the nozzle will give you a nice bass boost.
Edit: And burst your eardrums while your trying to put the iems in :), no way for the air to escape it seems. Just tried it in my ears, and its unusable this way for meā¦ Maybe with foamsā¦
Use micropore tape?
