Aeolus Repair Help Please

I noticed tonight that my left cup felt loose and when i took a look i noticed the screw had slidden into the hole and now just as I put them down to get a better photo it fell into the cup :frowning:

Is there anyway I can get this out, or is it a go in the front sort of job, just not sure how comfortable I am doing that with these. They’re sorta my other kid. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Someone please tell me it’s not a big deal and should be just a simple retrieval, never even had the stock pads off these yet. so hoping someone’s been here before. Or at least can point me in some direction.

I’ve emailed Zack, but not sure how long till I hear back, have a pair of atticus’s on the way too, so I know they’re swamped.

You should be able to unscrew it, with the correct sized Allen wrench.
What I don’t know is if the screws screw into both the headband and the cup or just the headband. If it’s the former, you might have a bigger issue.

Oh snap, i would absolutely hold off a bit and wait to hear back from Zach on this. So sorry to see this happen, i know how bummed out i get when anything bad happens to one of my favorites :disappointed_relieved:

Yah, and I’m guessing it’s loose behind the baffle, was hoping it be a simple couple screws ( still hoping) once i get the pad off where as I’d be able to recover it. But I’ll wait for Zach or someone who’s been here before, least before I attempt anything.

If I had even noticed it was loose to the point of not being attached i would have fixed with one of the hex screws I think they come with.

It is actually a very easy fix. Wait to hear back from Zach and he should link you a step-by-step video to walk you through it.

What happened is the screw fell through into the cup.
You’ll need to remove the pads, get a screwdriver to remove the wooden plate, CAREFULLY lift away.
This will expose the driver, but you will see that your screw fell into the cup. Take the screw, buy some thread locker, screw it back with thread locker. Remove any excess thread locker, sigh some relief, have a beer and enjoy music again. Best of luck and you will learn more about your headphone afterwards!

Thanks dude, felt pretty bummed, not gonna lie, and I’ll wait to hear back from Zach, sent two panicked e-mails, but I’m sure it’s not his first.

So reading your post makes me assume you have seen or read about this somewhere or experienced it yourself possibly. Should i be considering some blue or red threadlocker on the screws as a preventative?

Never use red threadlocker on something you might want to remove one day.

I’m thinking the purple would be best for this. Even blue might be too much

I’ll use blue on most things, but you could get away with less.

I have some to use, just waiting on a reply from Zach assistance, but would love to attempt the retrieval today at some point, just not sure about just “going for it”, but if it prevents this again, 100%!!

Ok, update, we’re back in business!!

I took off the pads, and down to the the last screw, the moment of no return.

Tried to get photo of screw inside, but all you get was one quick rushed photo. Mission had to have extreme focus!

And here we are, back in business, needs a new rubber gasket and have asked if Zach can include in my pending order.

Thanks for putting up with my mini panic post, you all rock!
