$1k for a single BA :upside_down_face:

and there was me thinking an ER3XR @ $200 was pushing it

It’s $140 - I think they just haven’t updated the placeholder listing yet

If it’s 140$ that looks like a solid price. Very early first impressions I‘ve seen were rather positive.

Thank fuck for that makes sense now lol :+1:

I got my mitts on the Aful MagicOne yesterday after recently testing and returning the Simgot EA500 LM, Crinacle Zero Red and Letshouer Galileo.

Early days, but I’m super impressed.

Coherent, musical, balanced. Nothing offensive in sound signature. Nothing screaming “LOOK AT ME!” like the exaggerated dynamics of the EA500 LM. That IEM felt like a tech demo for driver technology, but it wasn’t very cohesive or musical. Timbre felt artificial.

The MagicOne is VERY musical. Very nice timbre. Definitely more extended on either end than the Galileo without the mids shout. A step above the Crin Zero Red, which I liked but had to return due to the long nozzles feeling like they were piercing my brain.

One potential negative: The MagicOne is a bit of a beast to drive. You’re not running this thing off an Apple dongle. I have my Atom+ amp set to the same volume and gain level with the MagicOne as I do my 300-ohm HD 6XX, for comparison.

I liked the sound signature of my MagicOne’s as well and concur that it likes to be fed a healthy amount of energy to deliver its best presentation. :headphones:

I’m still gobsmacked at how much I like these. They check damn near every box I want, at $110 (Amazon sale).

For those who also own the MagicOne, what’s the next logical step from this to a ceiling of around $300, with a similar, neutral-warm, very musical sound signature?

If it were me, and from what I have read, I’d be keen on checking out the Dunu Falcon Ultra (leaning more towards warm here). Most of my library would play well with that set. When I’d want a more technical presentation, I’d default to another set that does that well. Always good to have different “flavors” for the mood you are in and how you want to listen to your music and particular songs. :notes:

Ok all, my pair arrived, won’t have a chance to listen for a bit because I love my family but so I can lock in when the time comes and I’ve heard these are tip dependent, share what tips you favor on these and what those tips did to the sound for you. I’m expecting great things from these… the MagicOne and Explorers could be a killer 1-2 combo.

Glad they arrived, John.

I’ve never experienced more of a “Moses parts the Red Sea” moment with tip rolling than when I put the Final Type E on the MagicOne.

It was late in a tip-rolling session, and I was getting frustrated by lack of results. Put on the Type E’s, and boom – perfect. The Type E’s add a bit more sub-bass and focus the mid-bass without changing the gorgeous mids and lovely treble.

Different strokes for different folks, but give the Type E’s a try.

Eager for your MagicOne feedback! They’re a special, unique set.

Had about 10 minutes and the tip I happened to have chosen was… Final type E

I’ll update if I get more time.

To provide a different opinion, I didn’t like what smaller bore tips like the Type E did to the bass presentation, including how it affected the mids and lower-treble. The medium-sized wiiiide bore eProaudios ePro 00s were what I eventually settled on (also helped getting a very good seal, which is paramount.)

Everyone’s ear anatomy and preferences are different, though.

*TIL ePros are not Penon lol

I love ePro Horns, (as far as I know Penon have sold and bundled them but do not make them). They’re going to be my next tip to try to:

  • Keep insertion deep
  • Hopefully improve vocal timbre

while usually having the right touch with bass.

ePro Horns + JDS Element, things are sounding super good half a minute in…

Note to self: Grab a pair of ePro Horns – never heard of them before reading this! – and try them with my MagicOne.

I can’t imagine being any more smitten with the MO with the Type E, but I want to try these tips!
