I regret buying my THX amp.

Lies… Has to be lies…

That was my first thought when I heard the 789 after reviewers gave it such good marks

I wish they were lies. The heresy sounds better with a nearly identical but less harsh sound signature.

Ya the 789 does have a harsh sound but I think the Airist takes some of the hashness away. When I had only the 789 before the DAC came I was like this sounds great but it’s so unforgiving and harsh.

The Airist sounds amazing with the RNHP and Schiit Heresy from personal experience. Mine is on loan otherwise I would hook it up to my gs-x mini.

I never heard anything from Schiit.

You may be missing out

Could be… Anyone want to loan me a amp then

Ok… so the Schiit Heresy is almost 100% the THX without the harshness. Since you can imagine that I’d look at Schiit Asgard 3 or cheaper version similar sound Magni 3+. Unless M0N says differently, the RNHP is the peak in terms of precision and sound signature of those amps I REALLY think is worthwhile having around that opens up more options the THX can’t.

By far those, THX might be my favorite amp for IEM’s. That’s because of the amps I have and how I just enjoy that amp. Granted… I should start testing IEM’s with the Fulla 3… if that sounds good then the THX is literally staying around just because I like how it sounds with the Blon B20.

I’m not an authority lol, just share your own thoughts, we don’t have to have our opinions align

It’s a great amp that I do indeed prefer over thx, but it’s not god tier or the absolute best or anything. It also depends on what headphones you have as well

FYI, a brighter amp or one with a sweetness on the upper mids and highs REALLY make the Ether CX open up. I was shocked when I heard it. If you like Zeo’s love letter to class A, the Asgard 3 or Magni 3+ is class A/B which gets a few similar notes without generating the heat a true class A puts out.

The magni 3+ doesn’t get that got, but the Asgard 3 does get pretty warm (I assume because it’s high bias?)

The class A portion does put in the work that is for sure. The heat numbers looks to be less than my GS-X mini is kicking out.

That would most likely be true

I got to hear the Meze Empyrean a few days ago. I feel like my CX is just lacking in a lot of ways. For 3k the Empyrean better be way better sounding lol.

@Knight0912 another thing the Magni 3+ or Asgard 3 is going to get you is a WONDERFUL pairing with the Airist. The Airist has a slight darkness note that is accentuated with the THX amp, when you pair that with a more precise amp with a sweetness on the treble, it makes for an EXCELLENT pairing with the Airist. Final nail in the coffin to add, your power output numbers of the THX single ended are lower than than of the Schiit Heresy or Asgard 3 by far on the higher impedance headphones. On lower impedance headphones the Asgard 3 has I think some of the most ideal power numbers with sound signature for $200 (standalone).

You would hope so yes lol, the high end stuff can be very addicting

Ya I remember being at a Atlanta GA sound design meeting and they had the Senneiser HE-1 there and DEAR GOD… it was like I was part of the band I could close my eyes and hear them around me and more. It was nuts.

It is indeed very impressive overall both in sound and workmanship, but you clearly pay dearly for that lol
