An Upgrade For An Ageing GSP 300

Hello, recently, The earcups on my 2-year-old Sennheiser GSP 300 started falling apart, so I wanted help to find a future replacement or an upgrade for it. I mainly play FPS and strategy games. The unique issue here is the amount of money paid in shipping and taxes, so if you recommend anything please consider that I will have to pay double its normal price. My budget is 100-200 USD (Without the aforementioned price increase. Do keep in mind that I will need a microphone for headphones without one) I have not tried any open-back headsets and I fear that the audio leaks may be too loud. Like, can people sitting in the same room as you hear your friends talking or hear what you are listening to and how if the audio would be picked up by your own mic, or would that be an exaggeration. For open-back headsets, I took a good look at the Philips SHP9500, PC37X/ 38X, and the Game One. Alternatively, I could go for a closed-back design and buy an Amp at some point (Maybe a Soundblaster X3). For closed-back designs, I think that the CM MH751/752, Game Zero, Cloud Alpha II, and Logitec G Pro seem like good candidates. Let me know what you think.

senn’s gaming headsets or the cm mh751. dont worry to much about others hearing what your playing, not that much leaks out. mostly with open backs you hear the outside world much more then closed back. so if the world around you is loud, you may want to consider sticking to closed.

have not tried the senn gaming, but my mh751’s are going strong 3 years later with the old lady using them for 6-8hours a day…and shes rough on things lol so yeah.

Alright, thank you for your response. Here are the cheapest prices that I could find for each of the options you recommended in case it might change your suggestion. MH751: 98.74 USD. Game Zero: 203(Amazon)/ 219.79 USD (EPOS. Taxes are not included but I may not need to pay them) . Game One: 222.91/ 219.79 USD. PC37X: 236.41 USD.

personally, i would go with the mh751’s. i did in fact lol. was contemplating the senn’s, but the comfort and price difference, made me go with the mh751’s. and i went with the 751’s over the 752’s because i find surround sound on headphones doesnt work well at all and isnt nearly as precise as stereo. maybe things have changed recently? but i doubt it.

Ok, thank you!

np. and dont get me wrong, i dont wanna trash the senn’s. i love my hd600’s. but i just dont think, personally, the senn gaming headsets justify the added expense from a purely gaming perspective. and add in the fact that the mh751 is built better clearly(your senn gsp300 started falling apart already).

one thing to note: the mh751 doesnt have the greatest bass. its there and its clean, but its not super strong. but thats also one of the many reasons it excels as an fps headset. but some explosions in strat games may sound thin because of it.

Saying that it was falling apart was a bit of an exaggeration on my part. The “leather” on the earcups is starting to flake, so I wanted to preemptively find an alternative if things got worse over time.
