Anyone got any experience between Fosi K7 and Schiit Gunnr?

I recently purchased a Fosi K7 but part of me wishes I went for the Schiit Gunnr instead. Anyone got any input who has used both and possibly advise please?

I have them both and listen to both. What specifically are you looking for about either of them for your preferences?

The easy answer here lies in the specs. The K7 has BT, the Gunnr does not. The K7 has a 4.4 output, the Gunnr does not.

You can use a headset on the Gunnr and still get 24/32bitrate (unless using Ps5/Switch). If that even matters to you.
There is plenty more to list, but I’ll await your answer first!

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Normally I got email notifications of updates.

To be honest, I’m not overly concerned of the BT. My main reasoning is portability with chucking it in my bag with a gaming laptop now too.. Initially reasoning for having the Fosi K7 was to leave it connected up to the PS5, However, After a day of thinking about it, Being able to power the Gunnr from USB is an advantage, Possibly more portability.

Either would be to replace a G6.

eh, I tend not to gravitated towards units like the k7 due to the more uncolored and analytical approach they take, like i may do that if i wanted to EQ and focus on competitive gaming but for enjoyment and immersions sake nah. Schiit tends to do very well with other characteristics like spatial recreation, colored which may or may not be a miss for some, and some cases they can be a bit more forward in the mids and treble while sounding more unique to the ear compared to some other units. I personally really appreciate the sound that schiit units tend to provide to my setups. Just my personal take really but if I had to choose I would take that schiit hands down as the easy choice against the fosi

While I agree with the point about the Gunnr, and as a big fan of Schiit products, the Fosi has a strong place in this part of the hobby as well. Gaming. I’ve been using the K7 with the likes of the ZMF Ori 3.0, HFA Dahlia and it drives them perfectly fine. When I say fine, I mean it sounds great!
I haven’t found the Gunnr to be quite as Schiit-like as other products, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s tone control is unique and works well within its limits. It made the Eris actually have some mids, lol.

The choice comes down to use case. Do you need a more versatile EQ? Is BT important?

Hell, you could even throw the Creative G8 into the mix for portability, since it can run on USB as well. It’s the least desirable of the 3 in my opinion, but has its place.

We all have our favorites, so be cautious about that. Thankfully, you have options!

Edit - sorry one more thing I love about the Gunnr, and other Schiit stuff. Negative gain. It is very useful for sensitive IEMs.

Hey Falenkor, Good to see a response from yourself. I actually returned the K7 yesterday without even trying it as I knew it wasn’t what I wantyed in the end.

I’m currently searching for a used item as Schiit UK and EU are out of stock. Failing that, It will be new purchases. I think with the good use I’ve had from my Asgard and modius setup, I’m maybe a bit more biased.

Thanks for the input, I just returned the K7 as no need for BT and I want it more portable.

I did consider the G8 but also have a G6 so wante dto try something differentr for a change.

You might be able to use sites like hifishark to scour the web a bit as well, might get lucky. I am about to sell the old asgard 3’s off soon as I no longer need them and they just collecting dust at this point. I have a bit of bias towards Schiit but I know there are some amps that get a bit closer to how schiit tend to sound, like the RNHP I had recommended a long time ago by M0N or in some cases the JDS Element.

Others might be able to chime in here on more available units that are similar to schiits performance and sound

I’m still rocking the Asgard 3, Its been a great unit. I’m just after a more portable unit for the other items such as PS5, Laptop etc.

I’ll keep my eyes open for a Gunnr as in no great rush. I did have a look on Hifishark and it shows as one is for sale however, Its in the states. I have a feeling it may take some time to find similar in the UK.

I ordered a new Gunnr. Due to arrive tomorrow all going well.
