Are you Ricky Booby? The F1 topic

Yeah that’s exactly it - what amount of flex is legal?

If Enzo Ferrari were still alive he’d make certain it was a hair less than that of the Red Bull…

Yeah apparently not there as that would be seen as moveable aero. The difficulty in answering is that bits on the cars move, you just have to look at side mirrors or the shark wing which don’t cause an advantage… This is moving in a way that does cause an advantage.

From what I’ve read the testing done is putting stress on the entire rear wing structure which includes the endplates. A contraption like this.

Nothing actually tests for the upper wing slap collapsing. Teams can and may wind up filing a complaint this weekend before the new testing begins in the French GP.

Leclerc is out before he Starts :joy::joy::joy:.The reason is a transmission problem after the crash in the qualyfing. So stupid from Ferrari not to change the Gearbox.

Vettel finally did something useful. Let’s see what if it holds up through the season.

Danny Ric is mired in mediocrity so far - I didn’t see that coming. Although, looking back, his first season at Renault wasn’t much to write home about either.

Anyway, it’s an interesting championship finally!!! Yay :grinning:

Yes, that’s right.
Vettel had a bit of luck today, nothing more.
It will be different in the next race.

Riccardo wasn’t as good today as last time, but he still needs some time.
Norris showed what he is capable of.

It is certainly a strong and interesting championship.
Perez would have been there in any case if Ferrari had continued to make mistakes :-).

For Bottas it was stupid and for Lewis I have little understanding for his behaviour today. Just because the pit strategy wasn’t up to scratch today. I thought he behaved in an asshole and arrogant way.
Everyone has a bad race sometimes.

I think Danny Ric is very sensitive to the brakes, and his first year at Renault i think he went through different setups on that before he finaly got the feel that he needs from them… and i think i read somewhere that he has been experimenting with different setups of the brakes this year too, to get the feel he wants.

After this Bottas is at risk of being jumped in the championship by Perez as Perez is getting more comfortable with the Red Bull.

It was also the first Monaco grand prix without a safety car in a long while.

Nice to se Seb on the podium… and for the championship it was great to see Hamilton lock up at the restart, to keep it close…

Good race, the top 3 was quite close the whole race, but i do think Verstappen would have won pretty easily from the lead if not for the tire drama…

Yeah that was a fantastic race. It’s great when it’s unpredictable.

It’s good for Perez’ confidence in the team too, it’s a big change from when Albon was in that seat. Bottas however is now in a less secure position.

Bottas did at least beat Hamilton

I don’t begrudge Perez, he deserved it.
But the race was so chaotic.
Because of the two laps I thought it was a bit ridiculous to actually do another standing start.

If it had been stopped Perez would have been 1st 2nd Hamilton and 3rd Vettel.
Mercedes won’t like that for sure, besides the Pirelli story.

Especially because of Pirelli, since they will bring next year without new rules, they should also be banned.
This was not the first time in all these years that something like this happened.
And it must not.
Both had over 300 on the clock and were really lucky that the wall wasn’t far away and that there were cars behind them, otherwise it would have been even worse.
And Verstappen is right to say that in a few days there will be another excuse from Pirelli.

Instead of Mercedes arguing with Redbull about the flex wing, they should take a closer look at Pirelli.
There is 100% something wrong with the hard tyre, which should never have burst on the red tyre, I would have understood, because everyone changed after 10-12 laps.
And strangely enough, the white tyre held up for Vettel.

Every silver lining :grinning:

Very fun race. Even without the tire drama there was good racing and the top four or five were close all the way. Nice to see a non-standard podium.

Pirelli are saying debris caused the blowouts. They found cuts on Hamilton’s tires after the race.

Yes, that’s possible after two crashes.
I think that the 2 punctures of Stroll and Verstappen have more to do with the fact that the white tyre is not as resilient as Pirelli believed.
If it is, then only to a limited extent, where other factors play a role such as lift pressure, camber angle, and so on.

They haven’t done analysis on the tires yet, this could be them trying to get ahead of issues and put something out into the media. They said they would have a full report for the next grand prix in two weeks time.
