🔶 Audeze LCD 2 Pre Fazors

Congratulations on finding a piece in that condition, it is gorgeous!

As far as tightening up the sliders, I’m not sure. The previous owner of the LCD-2pf I had had the headband replaced and new pads put on by Audeze before I bought it. You might call or email Audeze and see if they have any suggestions. Or hopefully someone else here might have some advice.

Congratz again - the LCD-2pf is a classic in form and sound - Enjoy!!

I asked Audeze about the problem. Here is what they had to say:

Thanks for reaching out. Sometimes if the adjustment is set at a “half-way” point between notches on the adjustment rod and then stored for a period of time, the ball bearing/spring mechanism in the adjustment block tension screw can become lodged or stuck with debris and doesn’t spring back as it should. It’s usually just a matter of knocking that ball bearing loose by adjusting the rod up and down quickly 10 or 15 times. A small squirt of contact cleaner or similar lubricant inside the body of the adjustment block can help as well (like WD-40 or Caig DeoxIT gold). You’ll want to wipe away the excess once the ball bearing is returned to normal function to avoid further slippage.

The adjustment block tension screws are actually not meant to be adjustable-- their tension is pre-set and they’re secured with thread locking compound here in the factory to prevent them from loosening over time.
We don’t recommend you attempt to adjust the tension on the screws as damage can result.

In my case the ball bearing wasn’t stuck, so I tried to adjust the preload of the spring once again.
This time I was able to break the threadlock and tighten the screw a few degrees. Now the rod slides nicely up and down but doesn’t adjust by itself while wearing the headphone.

If I want to try the sound of the old vegan pads, what would be the closest option available today?
Maybe the Dekoni Choice Suede?
