wait what makes the pre fazor more sought after?
@Kinda I thought this summed it up nicely
A lot of it is preference. Fazor models are popular as well.
Been trying to hone in on exactly why metal sounds so damn good on these and yes the tempered highs and strong bass performance have a lot to do with it but drums man, drums.
When these are powered properly they do a really wonderful job of articulating very fast and complex drum fills and the low end extension gives the kick drums really nice impact and easily keeps up with blast beats. Timbre is on point and thereās just enough shimmer to cymbals making everything sound really natural. Sometimes with other cans I feel like the width of the drum kit is exaggerated and I rarely hear that with the lcd-2 pf.
I donāt write enough about these cans because I rarely scrutinize them and normally just listen and things sound right. Their greatness isnāt exclusive to metal though and they probably take top spot for me when it comes to headphones on a solid state amp (that Iāve heard so far)
I agree with you, Don! I have the 2.1 PF but a lot of what you describe here can be heard in them. The LCD-2 strikes an awesome balance between smoothness and detail and that mid timbre is . My set was technically on loan. They didnāt reach out and grab me right away, but after just a couple hours I suddenly ended up on my bankās website checking the health of my accountsā¦ I was just working with them on my head playing my huge Spotify shuffle playlist. āEasy Loverā by Philip Bailey with Phil Collins came on. That track is actually very well recorded. Collins was co-writer, producer, and drummer and [surprise!] the drums sounded AWESOME. He drops in several linear fills that sound immense and are recorded like youāre sitting mere feet from his kit facing him. That first fill hit and I was like āyeah, I think Iām gonna be buying these.ā No regrets.
$650
That pair has really nice rosewood and the all wood input jacks. Really a looker, if i didnt have a 24 i would jump on it.
$600 now, PLEASE SOMEONE JUMP ON THIS OR I MIGHT HAVE TO BUY THEM
He decided to keep them. He thinks they might be a prototype or something since Alex Rosson sold them to him and they donāt have a serial number.
Once again with an X and 24 there is no room for me but if i didnt have them the it would of been an insta buy
sell me the 24, problem solved
Make your way back to NY and convince me with other cans and maybe
Thatās really interesting. Pretty cool.
Donāt show me this. I donāt need to buy the LCD-2 and I was happy thinking he was no longer selling. Now Iām tempted.
What pads do people buy for these when they wear out and does anyone know how long the lifespan is for the pads on this headphone?
Generally the stock audeze leather pads for me end up being the best match, havenāt been a fan of many of the aftermarket pad options on these. I would say if you used these every day the pads might last like 2 years but if you used them less frequently then longer. I would also from time to time use some of the leather cleaner to keep the pads from cracking and getting eaten away imo
I do need to stress that if you use strictly a cleaner you need to follow up with a conditioner, or else youre striping the leather of its oils.
Tbh with the quality leather used, the inside foam will probably deteriorate before the leather hits itās limit.
I think that was masonās defense in the court when questioned about the murders
Hey pre faz owners past n present Iām curious what signal chain you use or have used and what your favourites are or were? Cheers.
I like the question!
Iāve tried combinations of iFi Zen, SMSL SU-8, and Topping E30 for DACs with Asgard 3, Liquid Platinum, and G111 for amps. My fave so far is probably SU-8 + Liquid Plat.
