hahaha I have so much I’m hoping she wouldn’t notice
Me too!!!
IEM’s are better in that way, they are not so obvious as an amp or a headphone
You secretive addicts.

Me: I got it!
(rustling at the door and leaving package on porch out of sight under window)
SO: Who was it, honey?
Me: Oh, just NHK trying to collect TV fees.
SO: That’s the 5th time this week!
Me: I’m gonna go clean up the backyard a bit.
(Me going out the backdoor, ducking under the side windows, and then sliding under the front window to grab hidden package. Throws package in man cave window.)
I hear you completely! In the last month I have brought home one amp ($1K), one pair of headphones ($1K) and just ordered a pair of Sundara’s at a good price. I am hoping she is out when they get here.
If I pull them out of the cabinet she wouldn’t even notice that they are new. It will be like my eighth pair. It’s just getting them through the door…
Haha I think my plan would be to send it directly to the fedex store. Then I can “go out to get groceries” or “hey there may be toilet paper in stock at the store” then sneak them into my office.
I wish they weren’t red lol. That’s the only giveaway. If they were black Or grey she wouldn’t notice for sure Lol. Maybe I can make a special request.
Gods.

In the 27th in AliExpress Yinyoo will have good discounts for copper iem cables. Worth checking it out if you need some.
Guideray Gr-i IEMs will be down to almost 30USD too I think. Pretty much everyone is having a sale on there on that day. 10th anniversary or something I think.
Liquid Platinum amp for USD $550 - good deal or meh deal? Am I better off looking for a used one? Grab this before they raise the price, or is it likely to stay “on sale” or even get cheaper? I’ve spent a lot of time on Drop, but I have no experience with Monoprice.
Awesome amp at a killer price!
Just an opinion.
need to specify it’s awesome on balanced output only…single ended sux.
Sux is a strong word, it’s substantially better on Balanced, but I’d still take it’s SE out over a THX amp for example.
No I don’t. It sounds just fine on SE with my Fostex’s. If you are buying a balanced amp, you should be going for balanced as your focus. Why else bother?
It doesn’t “suck” on SE, it just works better through balanced, as it was designed.
Killer price is what I needed to know - very tempted now!
What about SE input? If I fed the LP SE from a DAC and plugged an XLR headphone into the balanced out? Does it do better with balanced in AND out, or just out?
If possible you want to use it balanced in and out. Using Out will probably have more impact.
It’s a differential amplifier, if you don’t feed it balanced, it either has to use an OpAmp to invert the incoming signal to create a balanced signal or what I would guess it does, just use half the amplifier, and amplify ground.
Same with Balanced out it either has to have a summing circuit to create the SE output, or just drop half the amplified signal on the ground (again for LP I’d guess it does the latter).
So if either in or out is SE your either missing out on some of the additional Noise cancellation that the differential design gives you, or you have additional op-amps in the circuit, for the LP because of the significant difference in power between SE and Balanced I would GUESS you in effect use half the amp if you use SE at either end.
From what I remember on Head-Fi, the path from DAC to amp doesn’t matter as it’s not really balanced. You can read up on Head-Fi for more info. Just search for user runeight. That is Dr. Cavalli and he goes pretty in depth on the features and architecture of the amp.
it’s been said that all of AC’s amps suffer in how well their singled ended output works. not that it doesn’t, but compared to se only amps, it’s found lacking. I think that’s pretty close to the definition of sucks.
Not at all. Now the LCX from Drop has a huge drop from balanced to SE. I don’t hear that big a drop, minus the power.
How would you describe the difference?
how dare you question my opinion based on anecdotal forum observations and hearsay!
