ah okay. i read some reviews. so you’re saying these are my best bet? No upgrades to amp/dac? And what about optical? I only use USB.
I think for what you are after they would suit your use case very well. Other options could be the focal elex, but that is better for music than it is gaming (still very good though), or the hifiman edition xx which would be very good for the music you listen too but not as good for games as the 1990 or elex
With the 1990 pro I still think you are just fine on the atom and d30, unless you want to move to something warmer sounding amp wise
i remember you telling me that the d10 is better than the d30? and also is it worth it to upgarde to a thx aaa 789? and what dac would i pair that with? sdac?
So if you already have the d30, it’s not worth it to get the d10, it’s a small upgrade. If you wanted to upgrade the dac the topping d50s or su8 is the better choice there imo. I personally don’t think it’s worth it to upgrade to the 789 with the 1990 because you won’t be able to take advantage of the balanced out (and if you could the differences would be fairly small). If you did want to upgrade, getting a better dac could be worth it.
If you wanted to change up your stack, the enog2 pro and archel2.5 pro stack is pretty sweet for the price imo
i thought of getting those two when i first got into this audio “game”. is balanced worth it? and is using optical better than usb?
So for the usb vs optical, one isn’t superior tbh, it just depends on how the designer implemented the input like usb or optical that matters.
For the g stack, using the balanced interconnects is the way it was designed to be used so I would used the balanced on them. The whole balanced vs balanced comes down to the design of the amp or dac. Typically the designers put more care into the balanced portion of a balanced amp and the single ended output is more of an afterthought (that’s why the single ended performance of the 789 isn’t as good as it’s balanced)
