After a few attempts of repair over the course of several years I think I’ve found a solution for broken hinges on the m40x’s I wanted a repair that would be more robust than the factory mount and would not alter the factory appearance (save for the marks from my previous repair attempts)
. I’ve used a small piece of sheet metal cut to shape in order to utilize the two oem screw holes as mounting points instead of the stock plastic screw post. Some trimming of the plastic housing is necessary, but well rewarded.
