Glad you are enjoying them, pretty unique phones
Understatement to say the leastā¦ Almost did not see notification of responseā¦ was lost in tunes!!!
You were the first to put the bug in my earā¦ I appreciate all you have shown me and I thank you ā¦
Inception is a very powerful thing
Being stuck with my Tin T2s and Nighthawks (all my other headphones are somewhere I canāt get to mid-quarantine), Iāve pretty much been rocking the Hawks all day every day. Earlier today I used the Tins for the first time in a while for doing chores and, damn, it felt like plain sound to me. I think I understand now what detail is in the Nighthawks, and boy do I appreciate it a lot more.
I also tried EQing it a little to raise the highs but it gave me fatigue pretty quickly so uh, letās stick to the default.
Ok not to be too crude here but: Who the fuck invented these phones? The sound , the direction , The imaging, The comfortā¦ All are incredible!! I am at least a 55 year fan of music and I have never heard a set like this. I am in my 60s and appreciate good quality but have never really tried to describe what I personally hear but one thing I have found with these is I am hearing sound on albums that I have listened to for years and years that I have never heard beforeā¦ I would like to say I am speechless but obviously not. To @Mon I say Thanks again. To all the other passionate fans of these I say : You Lucky bastards have been withholding this secret from me !! LOL!!!. I truly do not know as of this point whether it is my amp/ dac (Asgard 3) or what but Damn these rock!!
What if I told you there was more information being withheld lol
Oh like you havenāt cost me already LOL!!
They sound pretty great on anything Iāve heard them on lol a3 is fantastic thoughā¦ glad youāre liking them so much
I truly thought after so many years of listening to all genreās of music and mostly on high end or at least upper/ mid equipment that I knew what I was talking about but I am now I find I am but a newb and have had my eyelids ripped off by the knowledgeable people here. Hoping to gawd this is endgame but quietly knowing I am in for a long downward spiral into the bliss that is ātrue qualityā. I have been on this blue marble a long time but feel like I just wokeā¦Shit ! If the Elex is anything close to this I am in trouble!!!
(whispers) Elex is betterā¦
Lol, it sounds like you absolutely love them, not just like them. Thereās quite a few reasons why they are my favorite headphones I have ever tried. They are truly unique and special.
The old question on burn in: How do YOU think the Nightawks adapt to burn in. Does the sound change?
Does it tighten? Loosen? Does it really need 150hrs?
I think it does tighten up a tad bit, overall the sound seems to get more defined and a little less wonky, imaging becomes a little more defined as to where sounds are coming from too.
I am not sure about 150hrs, but I do know I could tell a difference by week 2 of using them especially.
Awesome! I am loving these and was curiousā¦ I do not always use headphones as unfortunately I guess I live alone and can use my nearfield monitors 24hrs a day. Of course work all week but weekends anyways. I am quite intrigued by their signature though. Thanks for the insight of a Hawk vet!
No problem! I love them. Sometimes I actually feel like the presentation almost sounds like speakers in a closed room. Which may explain Audioquest saying they were going for a āloudspeaker inspired presentationā.
Does anyone knows how these compare to Fidelio X2? Would they be considered an upgrade?
I would personally say they are a good upgrade, they have more controlled low end that is more detailed, quicker, more impactful and also more accurate timbre imo. I think the midrange performance is large upgrade as itās not bloated, good timbre and very good detail with a really nice natural sound, and no real bass bleed. For treble itās a bit more recessed than the x2 but imo a higher quality more refined treble response. For soundstage the x2 is wider, but imo the hawks recreate a space inside the cups thatās really interesting, more impressive imo.
Oh wow, perfect upgrade for me then. It seems that they improve on exactly what annoys me in my X2 - lacks of mids and piercing highs sometimes. Might consider getting these!
Best of luck finding a good deal!
