Yeah you kinda grow into them and only realize their strangeness when you directly compare it to other headphones
I was listening to my Koss and then switched to these and I hadnât used them in almost a week, and I almost jumped from how different they sounded. Almost like when I first tried them. I think taking a break from them then coming back makes me realize how unique they are.
(seems like from someone looking at my spotify test songs playlist it seems im more of a V shape than a warm sound person⊠so im probably not gonna buy these but buy the DT 770s)
Gotcha, well I hope you enjoy the 770âs
Which ohm version were you considering again?
i thought the 250 were the only good ones⊠you can see my spotify playlist to make sure and im mostly wondering because a liquid spark or a fiio Q1/dragonfly might not handle them
(also the person did say i would love the carbons but also mentioned the V shape so i am wondering about some of the things on hifi guide that say V shape)
Gotcha, yeah the 250 ohm is the way to go imo. A dragonfly or a q1 would do just fine imo, and the spark would be more than plenty
thanks⊠the offer is available (since you seem to know a lot about what id probably like)⊠i just dont have the money for a TON of headphones (my max budget is 400 dollars) and wanted to know what would overall be good⊠so figuring out the perfect headphone for everyone from laptop with portable dac to turntable use is pretty fucking hard
Ugh damn. Some of you guys made it sound way too difficult to pass up. I honestly didnât want these to entirely disappear forever and miss a chance to get them as cheap as they are. So I pulled the trigger. Guess they will hold me off till my Aeolusâ arrive.
Nice lol, hopefully you enjoy them
Haha Iâm sure I will. But my wallet was definitely still in recovery. I definitely like having different sound signatures to play around with. And again. 199 free shipping and no tax was too hard to pass up. I actually watched a josh valour video and , I know you said that these likely arenât great for gaming, but he said they were pretty phenomenal for gaming due to the 3D imaging and all that. That plus having that âunique sound made me jump on it. Plus is I also have extra cables laying around that will work for it if the cable isnât very good as I read on here.
I literally walked into the room and looked at my girlfriend and she was like âwhat now?â I had to do the whole thing about how they are 200 instead of 700 and how it could be the last opportunity to get them and everything. And how I know I said I wouldnât buy a pair for a while after purchasing the Aeolus last week. But she gave me the thumbs up!
I was gonna give a review on these but on second listen they are so dark lol. I cant do it. I cant even get through my Simple Minds playlist lol. So i think im just gonna send them back. I dont understand dark headphones. Just not my thing.
They arenât for everyone. Personally I didnât find them dark at all, more W shaped if anything. Plus if you try the different pads that might help. I did find the sound to change after a good break in period.
Yes they have a pretty sizable break in period along with a strong acclimation period for your mind lol
Yeah, I almost kind of agree with one thing Audioquest said in the guide and that was the burn-in time.
I donât know if itâs that much but
Besides the time to acclimate to them after a day, I didnât really find the sound changed at all. I donât personally find them to be dark either. I agree with Sorenâs take on the sound signature. If youâve listened to other stuff for a while and come back to it, people might need to get used to it again, is what I think.
Yes, this is also what throws reviews off. If you have this as a main or only headphone it doesnât sound that strange, but when you compare it to something else you really start to notice itâs strangeness
Iâve noticed this with the aeolus with reviews and I figured that people were using different pads lol. The default pads are dark and you have to get used to it to enjoy it, I think Onaha has touched on it. That said the punchiness and overall sound of that to some music is amazing. I mainly use the universe lambskin pads on mine which give it this badass W-sig that works for everything. Consequently, Iâd look at the aeolus as an upgrade path for the nighthawks if someone wanted something better. But the nighthawk still has something special going on with them so Iâve kept them.
I tried the other pads but it didnât seem like that much of a change. with the aeolus when I switched the pads it sounded like two different headphones.
