Ended up grabbing a set of ZMF Universe Hybrids from a headfier today, so I could have a pretty good stable of pads to try. Iāll update with my findings (eventually).

giving this more time as I really have started to really enjoy the overall comfort of this but I am really beginning to love this headphone for single player games. like damn is it immersive those angled drivers really do a lot for the headphone when it comes to imaging itās by far one of the most even circle around my head headphone i own or have ever heard. maybe the thing that beats it is the 800? not sure. cant really compare but damn is this thing beginning to show it true colors. for some reason instead of giving it time and listening to it over time its just not using it for months and coming back to it when I wanna try them again is really improving the listening experience for me.

So what pads have you settled on?
Sorry, I havenāt really had a chance to dive into the pads. However, I am really enjoying the OG Nighhawk with the ratty old pads I have.

I am enjoying the pleather ones on my Carbons more than the suede. They feel better against my skin and give a bit more brightness to the sound, not that it is needed.
May I add I love my NHC so much I am thinking of getting a second pair before they are completely disappeared?

Just subscribed! I liked your comparison on the Mojo vs Micro BL. I havenāt heard the iFi but I definitely agree with your assessment of the Mojo. Itās a little quirky in design but once you spend some time with it I find it endearing. Also the sound is handled in what I think is a refined, natural way that sets it apart from most gear in a similar price bracket. Itās subtle differences but I think they are definitely there to be heard.
In your video you mentioned that you still think your desktop stacks outclass the Mojo by itself. What I would be curious about is a straight DAC comparison where you run line out from the Mojo to the desktop amps and compare the DAC to your SMSL. Iām wondering if that Chord magic would compete in that scenario.

I think itās worth spending some more time experimenting with that. Itās been said before in the forum many times, but DAC comparisons especially require time and focus. Quick A/B usually doesnāt reveal much, but I feel listening over time and thinking about how often I just forget about analyzing and am just like, āDamn, this sounds good.ā I feel like thatās about the best way I have of deciding if something is working for me anyway.

I personally only analyze for the first couple days usually. Then itās all about the enjoyment for me. I just have to connect with a piece otherwise I use it less and less and it will eventually end up sold. Iām not too hung up on technicalities, more about the overall way it makes me feel. Itās interesting to think about and discuss what we think is making us feel a certain way about a piece of gear, but in the end I donāt want to lose sight of the big picture and end up always analyzing instead of enjoying.

Need some help guys. Just got in a very mint set of Carbons, but one of the cup suspension system things is broke. Any ideas? Parts donāt look to be available, but I havenāt heard back from AQ yetā¦
Get some nice 2 part epoxy for now and if replacement parts are obtainable then problem solved

Been listening to Nighthawk Carbons for about 2-3 hours so far. Hooked up to Magni 2/Modi 3, while I await an Asgard 3/Modius to arrive. Not sure how much the whole burn in thing is a bunch of non-sense.
Coming from Sundara (Which im going to return) the mids/highs definitely are darker and speech in general doesnāt sound quite as lovely as the 6xx/Sundara, but itās something I donāt really need. Thereās a few moments where the mids feel a bit tin-canny, which is unfortunate. Maybe EQ could resolve this, but thereās no real reliable EQās out there for NHC.
But when listening to literally any rock, edm, hip hop, I absolutely love these things. I realize what people mean when they say these have a very unique sound. Very happy to have a near mint-condition pair. Iām more than happy to lose a bit elsewhere to gain this sound.
Iāll eventually be getting T60RP Argons to add to these, which I genuinely have no clue how to compare them.
