Auteur/Darkvoice vs Arya/RNHP

Zeos has weird ears and with love affair with the NDH20’s makes me think he likes restricted dynamic drivers a ton. Sometimes you have have to think people had different ears + preferences.

As far as the RNHP comments, I find DACs make substantial a difference.

Well Zeos loves the Sendy Aiva too. He seems to like a large vareity of sound signatures. he also loves things that are different. Unique. Thats essential to know when you watch his videos. If he reviews something thats the standard headphone or amp hes like “meh, its ok…” Thats probably why he doesnt like reviewing DACS so much lol.

He also doesnt like diminishing returns. expensive audio equipment when you can get so close to it with cheaper gear. He likes detail but not when it interferes with enjoyment of music. He’s mainly about the music

Ok Burning in the russian tube for 24 hours. and no more noise. but WOW. BIG difference in sound. Sounds great! This is almost rivaling the RNHP if not just out right beating it. and the Arya doesnt sound that bad in it. Aren’t planars bad for otl tube amps?

Ok i just cant get over the change in this thing. The stock tubes must have been junk! Funny cause they look identical. The Auteur now sound more full than the Arya. Which now sounds more unatural and less body. so crazy. I think i love tube amps! :grinning:

The zmf line really are made with tube amps in mind, so it prob is pretty nice

Yeah the Auteur sounds great now! i was disappointed in them compared to the Arya on the RNHP but now they can compete! and how!

I also notice that i dont have to turn the volume up that high. The tube seems to have given it more volume if im not mistaken. Is it possible it gave it more detail too?

I’m worried I’ll need a tube amp after I buy my Eikon.

I would seriously consider it. ZMF headphones seem to take to them very well. But i recommend a hybrid if youve got other headphones that wont take to it. I really wish i could hear my Arya in these. also the russian tube 6H8C. its sounds awesome and cheap at 10$

Another thing is the Bass. Auteurs seem to have better bass too. lol im so blown away by this :exploding_head:

Lyr 3 is on my list with the tube from the Dark Voice. I don’t know if hybrids really get the same tube sound but screw it, I have to make some sacrifices because I can’t handle the heat most of the time in the summer with my other electronics.

Auteurs are on my list but M0N mentioned the Eikons and made a good argument. The Ziricote are in my shopping cart right now. 5 more days before I pull the trigger.

They don’t give the same sound, but personally I do like the extra punch from the solid state on the eikons. Also the lyr 3 still gets really hot lol (also consider the liquid platinum as well)

Liquid platinum is on the list as well. But I’m looking Lyr 3 because I drank the schiit koolaid and I think the Bifrost 2 needs a schiity friend.

Nice! Good to hear the tube roll made a difference… glad you’re enjoying it now :+1:

I could use my darkvoice as a preamp for my RNHP right? just use the output RCA’s to the RNHP input? is that right? Then i could get some tube action on my Arya? Would it make that big a difference? Or should i just get a hybrid tube amp?

You could if you wanted to, you might get a bit of hum, would be functionally similar to a hybrid

What about the big power tube on the Dark Voice. does it make a difference to the sound? Should i change that one too?

It will make a bit less of a difference than the other tube but it will also improve the sound if you get a better one

Which power tubes can the DV support?

The darkvoice supports 7236, 6080, and 6AS7 power tubes.

Also 5998 and 421a, but those are expensive and not worth it for use with a darkvoice 336se IMO.
