Bad Guy Good Audio Rankings and stuff (under construction) (Part 1)

Looking forward to it, you think the L4s will be out before this linsoul sale ends? Nabbed the giftcard so want to pick up something nice, don’t think I can go wrong with the teas but if these prove to be better for less…

Looking at your graphs, the Legacy 4 has me more excited than I initially thought. TA has been on a roll lately, with some spectacular tuning. This could hopefully end up being one of my favs, since I don’t think EST drivers are always necessary for TOTL sound.

Edit: this was supposed to be a reply to one of HBB’s posts.

BL-01 just arrived. I’ll be listening for the next few days to see what I think about them. Anybody else received their set yet?

It wasn’t my graph. I just over layed hawaiibadboy’s L4 graph over his Clairvoyance graph.

Agreed, I think you should be excited, especially if you enjoy the Legacy 3. I spoke to Linsoul on Discord and they let me know that the L4 is a direct upgrade to the Legacy 3 with a shell more in the style of the L5.

As for the Clairvoyance and its EST treble. It IS different and sets it apart from all my other (non-EST) IEMs because of it. The treble can be what sounds elevated without any hint of harshness or sibilance that I would expect in a BA. It’s making it more and more difficult to enjoy music without the EST drivers.

I’ve been so impressed with the Clairvoyance, I just ordered the Monarch last week. I have two custom Legacy 3 sets. The new one is better sounding than my older set which sounds somewhat dead, so I’m hoping whatever issue they had in QA has been resolved. The Monarch & Clairvoyance are handmade and made to order. Deng from Linsoul has told me Thieaudio are treating each of these IEMs with a lot of care to assure they are the best they can be.

The L4 tuning graph looks impressive, but that only tells a portion of the story. Looking forward to hawaiibadboy’s impressions. I have a 30% off Linsoul coupon waiting to go.

Yeah, I accidentally replied to one of your posts, instead of one of HBB’s posts. EST treble certainly is special, and can achieve very high resolution w/o harshness. That being said, I still really enjoy well tuned and executed BA treble, which can often be made available at a fraction of the price of the EST tribrids. Of course the TA EST twins can probably compete with any TOTL IEM regardless of price.

you can probably substitute EST drivers for piezo and reduce cost that way as well.

Agreed, like the LZ A7. Given the fact that it is the only piezo containing IEM that I’ve heard thus far, it is implemented so well, that I really don’t know what “piezo timbre” is.

hahha, exactly. I have never heard any EST drivers but I imagine it is taking piezo´s to the next level, but should be the same flavor.

Sony Z1R’s 5mm DD super tweeter does a sterling job too.

The DD supertweeter is definitely an underutilized technology.
