Bad Guy Good Audio Rankings and stuff (under construction) (Part 1)

Okay if it truly is bit perfect then converting to AIFF will also retain that, just at a larger size.

I hate to create a new account but I donā€™t what they know who I am.
About the moondrop thing, itā€™s way more complex than a simple apology.
Since it obviously has nothing to do with earphones so you could just ignore this shitting post.

The picture they post are originated from a group named ā€œę°“꜈é›Øé—²čŠē¦åˆ©ē¾¤ā€ (moondrop fan service small talk group), there many arkworks including NSFW in this group, itā€™s not an official group but some group admin are moondropā€™s empolyee (the guy who post the picuture is one of them).
The picture has a text ā€œé…øå„¶ę³¼åˆ°č€³ęœŗäøŠäŗ†ā€, means ā€œyogurt spilled on the earphoneā€, yeah itā€™s yogurt not semen you think, the guy thought itā€™s fun and safe then he posted it publicly. The picture was deleted because someone report it on head-fi forum and the guy was punished and sent to other position after few days. When the group members knows the guy was punished they are angry because they think their fan service picture are censored by the ā€œē™½å·¦å©Šā€ (white left-wing bitch), they ask moondrop stand against the feminists in the offical wechat group but moondrop refused and say they wonā€™t give any word about this thing again.
It may sound ridiculous but many of their customer think the picture is totally fine and censorship it is taking their freedom away (like CCP did), so if moondrop apologize publicly it may make them boycott moondropā€™s products.

Iā€™m surprised that hawaiibadboy from japan complaints about this because for what I know many japanese are more ā€œconservativeā€, I remember years ago there was a mass protest ask the government do not censorship child sex arkworks (aka 非実åœØ青少幓), and they won. Whatā€™s even harder to believe is that a woman raped by prime ministerā€™s reporter was called a prostitute by several famous people and there popular support for the rapist (which is free from jail). There many people in the world did not think woman, especially the non-realistic existence need the be ā€œprotectedā€, and they hate someone using political correctness and feminism to suppress them. This incident is just a tragedy, they should not have posted this picture from the beginning, then being caught up in the political maelstrom.

I think moondrop register an account to hifiguides because they want to show that they notice complaints here, but they keep slient because they canā€™t say anything, not because ā€œdonā€™t give a shit about itā€.

I personally donā€™t blame them and believe they wonā€™t post NSFW pictures publicly again, but itā€™s your freedom to boycott moondrop or do whatever you want. Like I said at the beginning this is a shitting post so please ignore if you feel offended.

In my opinion, it is preferable to embrass a clear statement / position than trying not to choose.
I would go as far as saying that taking a bad decision is better in the long term (if you are open to critics and able to change) than avoiding to take a decision.
So I would advise Moondrop to clearly choose a position and stand by it, whatever camp they chose.
But thatā€™s just some guyā€™s opinion.

Personal opinion: excessive censorship is in violation of freedom of speech and expression. However seeing that weā€™re living in an imperfect world, not everybody has the sense and decency to filter their words and what they share. So a certain level of censorship is still necessary to protect some groups.

As shared above, if its a misunderstanding, then I think itā€™s still the right thing to clarify the misunderstanding. I do not wish to comment on the intentions of the creator of that fan art and the one who posted, since I do not know them in person. However since their action has caused such an uproar, it should be addressed and not simply swept under the rug.

To me, it says something about their values as a company, do they value profit (fear of getting boycotted by either parties) or doing the right thing as a decent human (which is often not the easiest path). Just my 2 cents.

MoonDrop not making a public statement apologizing for it seems like a very bad decision.

Man up. Own the issue instead of thinking itā€™ll go away on itā€™s own.

That said, companies are run by people and people make mistakes.

I guess the biggest mistake here was giving whomever shared that picture control over MoonDropā€™s account.

That person clearly wasnā€™t up for the task of handling that.

Thatā€™s actually my biggest issue with the whole situation.

Iā€™m totally cool with folks making what Iā€™d call an innocent mistake. Someone did a fuck up. Congrats, someone learned theyā€™re human today!

But not apologizing for itā€¦ nah. Thatā€™s not an innocent mistake, thatā€™s a series of conscious mistakes.

Hell, I give companies more props when they come out about stuff in a timely manner and are able to brush it off. That earns more respect from me.

Anyways, Iā€™m not burning with anger over the situation. Whatever, Moondropā€™s tuning will never be for me. Just theyā€™ll get less from my mouth.

As stated by @manday ā€œthe right thing to doā€ may not be that obvious as we think, as there are cultural differences at stake. We see this picture out of context, with our westerners eyes, and obviously we find it offending.

Anyway, i think that at the end of the day, moondrop has calculated the risks for their image here: offending a minority of Asian fans that accuse them of censor VS offending a minority of ā€œwesternā€ fans.
In both cases, the shit could hit the fan pretty hard. Moondrop made the choice of offending a little bit of both communities but not going further in either way. I think I can understand that tactical move.

Doesnā€™t mean I agree, though. And I guess the sells numbers of Kato will tell if they made a good choice or not.

Thatā€™s a clearer way of describing what I believe is a mistake. I will remember them as weirdos (I had my doubts already) and those keyboards freedom warriors will remember them as half-a** bi***es.
Lose - lose situation.

Anyway I find @manday insight fascinating. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

I agree with them not apologizing, doing so only feeds the outrage mob / cancel culture mentality and they have nothing to gain from it. Everybody makes mistakes, lesson learned.

I am usually inclined towards your opinion, but we are not debating NapolƩon Bonaparte or General Lee here.
Weā€™re talking rape promotion.
And a lesson is learned when you behave differently. We shall see.

Unless I missed something and weā€™re talking about something other than the pic, this is a huge stretch.

You canā€™t just interpret something in the worst way possible and then state that that was the intent as if itā€™s now fact lol.

If you donā€™t see a raped young girl in that picture with a wannabe funny comment on top, I understand you are not bothered.
I would not discuss it at such length either.
But I canā€™t refrain my interpretation :man_shrugging:
