Bad Guy Good Audio Rankings and stuff (under construction) (Part 1)

Can any mod please create a Thor Mjölnir MK2 thread? Thanks

Always go with Penon if they sell it in my opinion.

Just ordered Raptgo Hook-X. I prefer earbud (my favorite is Ucotech ES-P1) to IEM, but am going to try the new experience with the open-back IEM.

got a cable from Ali that only worked when wiggling it to just the right position (openheart) I asked the seller for a partial refund and they wanted multiple videos as proof timer ended up running out and Ali just gave me the money lol

I’ll leave this here, normalized at 500 Hz:

Seriously considering getting it. I am trying to wait a bit to see what is in the immediate pipe line. Tin actually get it right this time? The Power is it good. I am sure more are coming. I do listen by myself often enough I can alternate using Timeless when folks are around and Hook when I will not disturb.

Have you heard the Hook X yourself? What are your impressions?

No I have not but I have listened to many of Chris’s reviews and for me they usually a good rec

-Buy Tanchjim Tanya
-Enjoy for couple of weeks
-Channel imbalance starts to appear
-Sound beginning to sound more and more muffled and compressed
-Inspect the earphones
-Notices nozzle filter is completely smeared and clogged up with earwax
-Remove filter altogether
-Sound balance is restored and drastically improved

Seriously, wow…

It is like I added at least $80 worth of performance onto this $20 IEM.

The layer of wax was almost invisible because it had permeated the filter as opposed to only being a layer on top of it.

I love how this level of detail on someone’s earwax would normally be TMI, but on HifiGuides, everyone nods and gives a like for sharing useful info :joy::joy::+1:

I got the Tanya coming in so this is good info! I thought the Tanya filters had a special coating to not absorb sweat and wax though??

That looks pretty cool. I have been in the market for something else and thinking a dongle or portable of some sort.

I am guessing the most popular portables here are the Qudelix 5K and the Fiio BTR5, but they also have the Bluetooth features that make them value added.

Do you plan on covering the Bluetooth models or just staying with the wired models?

I gotta get my Q5K to work as a USB. Not working so far. Yeah, I’m going to be reviewing the ultra portables like dac/amp dongles and BT amp / dac.
I use em
I won’t do bigger portable amps anymore though because i don’t use em anymore.

Any chance we’ll see the Yanyin canon review soon?

Weird, my Qudelix worked in USB mode connected to my Mac out of the box! Hope it works for you without too much of a fuss!

I can’t wait to see the review even though I blind bought it. Really interested to here his thoughts. For me it’s a phenomenal choice at its price. Sits in my frequent rotation right along with my Kinda Lava and Up. I’d feel confident recommending to someone if you enjoy those two or as somewhat alternative if they’re out of your price range.

You’re describing me! I’m priced out of both but EJ07M would’ve been my idea of an endgame. Maybe the Canon will be enough  if it ever bloody shows up though
