I have never been a fan of the official graphs. They always look off to me. This is why I was hoping HBB would get it!
Looking at the official Penon Fan graph it looks like all the dbs end in .0 (75.0, 80.0) so it could be anything. Someone on head fi mentioned it had 7db of bass and if thatās true itās likely the scale is increments of 5 instead of 10
This is where human beta testersā¦coughReveiwerscough come in and save us Plebs! Itās kinda odd how Penon doesnt have a bad reputation for their sets, but nobody gets them regularly to test, since they dont seem to send units out for review. And thus we dont know anything about them, though apparently they donāt suck
They do, but only to their special snowflakes.
That makes total sense. Butā¦WE WANT GRAPHS! WE WANT GRAPHS! WE WANT GRAPHS!
I was perusing the used market and found XENNS UP that I was always intrigued by. For $175~ more I can get UM MEXT, which the seller noted is similar to the former. Is it worth it to spend a bit more for the latter?
They are similar. UM has a BC effect that is subtle but present and XENNS has a EST treb which sounds a bit better than MEXT. Itās a close call. If you already have a tribrid maybe give MEXT a try. I donāt think one is ābetterā than other.
Apparently the seller doesnāt have a used XENNS UP rn and a new set costs the same as the used MEXT. I think Iāll grab the MEXT for now and XENNS UP later
Sounds like a good plan.
Unique Melody has good after market so someday when/if you move on you may not take too much of a hit. Enjoy the music
Gt my Dioko kit
Nice metal tweezers All my old ones are plastic
Will update and label final graph after install and will revisit in a vid if it is better
Face of a loser.
Not a fan of Abe butā¦
this guy has *itās the worlds fault , not mine" written all over him.
As a non special snowflake, for what itās worth Iāve been listening to the Vortex since I got them over a week ago (limited listening time though, family and some sickness) and the only qualm I have with them is that I wish sub bass emphasis was a tiny bit higher. The sub bass is represented, just not given as much oomph as Iād like. Mid bass and upward itās incredibly impressive, and the treble is very seriously notable for me. At the price itās no brainer imho, if $400+ sets are worth a blind buy then this certainly is. If you already have any faith from how well the Serial delivered.
Iām still not ready for any direct Serial Vortex comparisons, I havenāt had enough time listening to both.
Edit: Just listened to Wonāt Be Fooled Again on the Vortex. It was absolutely fantastic, and I could hear every single bass note but I have a suspicion I would have heard the same notes with a little more texture and weight on the Serial. Whoās Next has been a very useful album for me when it comes to telling if IEMs delivers the audio I like. Behind Blue Eyes is always very telling.
veeeery interested in your feedback on the ED12
who is this?
And to think, just yesterday I was wondering how come assassinations are no longer something that happens, given itās the end of days and allā¦
In all seriousness, though, rest in peace
Itās former Japanese PM (2012-2020) Shinzo Abeās assassinā¦ before he pulled out his homemade shotgun (not 3d-printed), and shot. Abe died a few hours later.
Chris you should do a Colab with Seek for the Fusion and call it the Seek XAudio Fusion Reactor LOL
Waiting for some reviews on this one.
Could probably match the Olina to the SEEK Real Airship with a Tanya Filter and a Y(1-6) filter on the bass vent. Would like to see your graph of the Shortbus Audio Olina mod vs the SEEK Real Airship.
Something close to that.
Typically I try to put my measurements here: GitHub - paulwasabii/measurements: My IEM Measurements
But the Shortbus sets are Michaelās and I didnāt post them. My Olina is close to his, just different material on the vent.
