yeah the shell could definitely be better for comfort. Although I dont have any comfort issues with it and would rather change the shell to make it fit better.
That picture is from almost a year ago, no idea where the user found that pic either. Hopefully it wont be like that.
What like sony and sennheiser… lol I will say that after my adapter the Sony’s are the most comfortable thing ever for me, beacue they basically don’t touch my ear and are super light. Senn is just being stingy imo but my 650 connectors never failed me so…
Ideally, I would want there to only be 1 single connector standard. A big pain in the ass to have to either get more cables with the different connectors or use adapters.
$$$$$$$$$$- 10 char limit Lololol outside of that one could argue pros for companies and consumers in both directions, meh. As long as costs are low I dont complain too much
luckily cables such as the Faaeal litz copper, Kbear Rhyme, TRN T3 and the Tri Through cables arent very expensive and they are very good in terms of measurements (all of them are probably around 0.3 ohms).
I’ve not had any issues with my tripowin cables, they feel good and don’t jank, I havent noticed a difference in sound, but I don’t use 8ohm iems so yea I’m chill lol. They were cheap enough too for me.
I got the Tripowin C8 and it measures at around 0.35 ohms on my multimeter (It is lower than it should). So it is pretty decent. But the faaeal and kbear/tri cables are measuring better and cheaper lol.
Same with speakers. I remember when Klipsch was touting the use of premium Monster Cable in their Reference line. Of course curiosity get the best of someone, who pulled out a driver. The wiring was okay, but was still cheap lamp cord.
I’m in the middle of the cable camp, but am ultimately a pragmatist. I do, however, draw the line at expensive boutique digital cables (other than for general build quality) and especially power cords.
“The science shows our audio memory starts to degrade after just 0.2 seconds. So if switching from Gear A to Gear B requires more than a fraction of a second you’re losing more information. The longer the gap, the more you forget and the more bias distorts what you do remember.”
Listen to the new changed variable for a good few days, as much as possible. Then, revert back to your original and see what you think. That’s why a lot of speaker shops allow you to do in-home demos for a week. A/B tests are ineffective and your judgement is skewed from it.
Assuming the average IEM cable is 1.2m and consist of at least 4 strands of something like 26g wire then your picture suggesting the internal wiring probably using several small pieces of circa 38g wire of similar quality to the $600 aftermarket one, then your 50 cents guesstimate is about spot on
