They are good for sure but it’s a tough because imo the magic sauce is dependent on ear anatomy. When I tried them I thought they were a very good single DD but I personally enjoyed the IE600 more
As for the phase inverter, in my headphones it has a length of 13 mm, like a subwoofer. I had a Sennheiser HD650 with an open back, there is a dustproof foam on the back of the driver, if you remove it, the bass becomes deeper and louder. In fact, it’s not very noticeable on the charts, but in real life you feel the difference.
NYc…maybe I’ll see you around come March
I have the IE900 sitting in the box wrapped up for about a month…cousin picked them up and said “are these for me”
No knucklehead…they’re a paperweight…they’re goin back on the market
Actually you know what, I’m sorry for posting that, trying to pump other people up on the verge of a sizeable purchase based on other’s experiences and not even having put down that kind of cash myself is a sin. I’m sure you know your own mind, sometimes I don’t know my own.
The enjoyment of seeing other people’s journey is a fun indulgence but enjoying watching other spend a lot and getting a kick out of it is just another one of the fine lines.
Woah…who farted in here? Let’s get this party going again…
That is something that is graded on a curve…I’m a junkie and proud to admit it
I’m good with words but sometimes they can roll off the tongue faster than their true meaning is apparent to me. Easy to get away with online if one doesn’t check themselves
I’ve been through Manhattan twice before…the density of skyscrapers was dizzying as I explored the streets, felt closed in…I hunted for the sky til’ I got over to the bay so I could breathe and there she stood ahead…Lady Liberty. Fitting.
Speaking of NYc, I was planning to make this a separate topic on the forum but screw it I will just share it here for the bass lovers near NYc. OJAS audio has a ‘high-end’ listening room for his system there. Might be worth checking out from the samples I’ve heard online.
I’ve been following OJAS audios DIY projects for a while. He puts together horn speakers, cabinet speakers and turntables. Pretty cool. I was particularly fascinated by the 31.5" Subwoofer by fostex.
“Low Excursive Sub-woofer” - What does that mean?..
…but I like its sound from online samples I hear. Low Excursive? does that mean tight and snappy super low frequencies? I didn’t know that could be possible for such a large diameter.
Anyhow just something I wanted to share with the group. Those who are interested and can make it down there… you have my envy.
Cheers
I’ve read prominent journalists prose that is not structured correctly coupled with bad grammar and misspellings…don’t they proof read their monologue or at the very least have a proof reader do it for them
Low excursive = doesn’t physically move much. A large woofer will move less for the same SPL than a small one. 31.5 inches is absurd!
Funny you should say that, I was just thinking about an essay I read a long time back by George Orwell, Politics and the English language. It influenced me a great deal
Here begins the descent into madness… A first step of a journey many have taken and not returned from unchanged
(Maybe I’m being dramatic)
It took 3 months to design the case from scratch, before that I was not engaged in modeling at all…but I really like it)
Oh, I absolutely know how it is… it can be both so satisfying but also frustrating, especially when you get into the finer details of your design.
Good work takes time!
I say to myself, "Well, I guess I’ve done everything here and there’s nothing more to add… But no! over and over again, you add something and completely change it… Sometimes it seems to me that it will never end…
That’s a curse of doing something creative like this: there’s infinite possibilities, so where do you draw the line and say you’ve done enough?
So yeah, I really relate with the feeling of it never ending - I haven’t released anything in over 3 years. It genuinely has felt like it’s been forever.
But best of luck to you! Always keen to see unique projects popping up.
Thanks! And good luck to you! It’s always nice to hear from more experienced people in this hobbie / business!
