Both - problem is some of it’s privacy features seem ripe for abuse by these scum. I’m not on it (looked in to it) but decided nah. I also don’t like how some Android devs are/have migrated away from xda to using it - but presume it has some benefits for them 
. With all the scammers infecting YT (and elsewhere?) using it has to be damaging the rep of the platform - it has for me for sure.

Fun (not-so-fun) fact, scammers intend to make typos on their message to filter out the people who are aware of their scheme from innocent people who can easily believe. This makes their job easier so only people they can genuinely scam replies back to them.
The effective way of prevent viewers/people from falling into these scammers is to educate against these schemes and probably point out which source is genuine.
