Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews (A Million views?) Part 3/4

:sob: Did it come with the cables plugged in? Did it fail taking it out or putting connectors in?

Please don’t think I am a wiseass and besserwisser herešŸ˜…. I know you both have seen your fair share of IEM’s. But here it goes:

When you pull out the cables do you use the ā€œwiggle and pullā€ method? I have seen this method promoted after the Raven incidents. On recessed 2-pins like this that would be asking for trouble, specially if the tolerances is tight. I kind of squeeze the 2-pin and roll my thumb and index fingers into the shell if that makes sense. That way the 2-pin gets pulled straight out.

It just scales up really well with power and it works fine with regular dongles. Power tightens up the bass control but it still doesn’t become a bloomy mess without it.

Yeah. That cable fit is TIGHT.
I got finger nails under and pulled it straight out (no wiggling).
I like the fact the cable has zero chance of coming loose.
I guess if your making iems for musicians you cant have the cable falling out mid gig.

I first read about this topic regarding the Subtonic Storm which also has the notable dip in that region.

At lunch he’s playing a Cop
At dinner he’s wearing a fat Cuban Links Gold Chain.
No idea which way he is going
He picked that apple…enjoy Cop turned Gangster

Kai wore Celtics
Celtics comeback and win. Coincidence? I think not :four_leaf_clover:

I like to think since FF still hasn’t shipped my pre-order, directly from them, they are busy fixing these issues before I get them. It may be an in-stock item on some stores and people that ordered a month after all of us are just getting the defective ones

They want me to ship them back to them for replacement.
Which sucks, because I’m out 25 dollars or so in shipping costs and won’t get the item back for probably a month. Then if I wanted to review them, do I review the broken ones that work sonically or wait a month until the hype has died further.

Note my order number put me in before it was live on the site. I posted here excited they took my order early. Dilemmas….

Hi Jaytiss,

Sorry to hear about this. Can you send them back in?
We will send you a new pair (Just the IEMs L & R) on Monday. Hope to get your pair sorted out asap.
For the new pair, please ensure you insert the cables in a careful, fully parallel motion. Avoid any twisting or angling, as this can damage the IEM. Our recessed 2-pin design prevents loose connections and protects the actual 2-pin conductors from bending or breaking, but improper removal may lead to breakage.

Do let me know if you have any questions! Would be happy to help.

Best regards,
Ben

What’s the normal review time? Maybe they wouldn’t mind you testing the set for a few weeks and sending them back after.

I think I’ll just send it in for repairs. Then review super late in December. In this hobby that’s like 3 years later . :joy:

It’s a good set, but I have other stuff to work on.

Would’ve been useful to include that advice in the first place  just like EE’s Raven…

Or just’ve gone MMCX?

I am so called out.

/S - joking, man

I would use wiggle and pull for some iems but only lightly and with regards to a non-recessed version of an IEM like most standard IEMs. With the DaVinci or Maestro Mini or any recessed, I’m way more cognizant and careful with it and go straight with my pull and look for a give to continue.

The right IEM was tight’ish but had plenty of give and was fine. My left one was kind of the problem where it was too tight so I was just going carefully and trying to get some relief. May have given it just too much pressure and unintentionally wiggled a bit but intention was not to wiggle and go straight up/down.

Seems like there is something going on herešŸ˜…. In one of Chris’ pictures the IEM-side connector seems to be stuck on cable. That means it isn’t just the recessed part that is out of tolerancesšŸ˜•

They should cover shipping over this. Even Penon covered shipping when I had a warranty issue on a Yanyin set. They asked to see the receipt and PayPaled it to me. You already paid a shipping ā€œpremiumā€ on what was meant to be a $200 price.

I looked at my set and that area that is breaking is insanely thin to the point where I’ll never consider changing cables.

I was already annoyed at FF charging as much as they did for aliexpress tier shipping (literally came from one of ali’s usual aggregation places in Jamaica, NY) but charging that for repairing their defect on top of that would have my anger levels go through the roof.

I’m just glad this happened because I might have been tempted to spend actual money with FF at some point. After how they can’t stop dropping the ball on this set, not a chance in hell that will ever happen.
