Picked up my Deuce yesterday after a long journey.
For the IEM itself: it’s even better than I hoped for. There’s soundstage, the bass is well controlled into the mids but has an amazing rumble in the lowest registers, treble is enough to balance the bass but not overdone.
Biggest surprise is how good it sounds with non-basshead tracks. Classic rock or metal sound amazing, they don’t have that much sub bass so the extra oomph just makes them a little more immersive, like listening live or on a full range stereo system with a good subwoofer.
The the only time the bass is maybe too much is with some modern tracks that are produced to have a lot of bass already. Listening to something like Berserkir by Danheim gave my skull a solid rumble, but I’m all for it.
Fit was a bit of a concern at first, I’m usually not good with short nozzles but after switching to the smallest tips they came with they stayed in my ears no problem without having to adjust and with a perfect seal. I think maybe the thickness of the nozzle(which is a bit extreme) helps it seal better against my ear canal. Very happy with that, recently I find myself reaching for IEMs that fit well over the ones that sound maybe a bit better but Deuce is both.
Build from first impressions is fine. No, it doesn’t feel like a cheap $20 plastic IEM, it just feels like your average resin IEM which is perfectly fine. And it looks dope. Not a big fan of the cable, the hardware is nice, but I don’t like this style of weave and it’s pretty stiff with some microphonics(but only really audible when not playing anything).
I’m happy with my purchase and it’s going to be my daily driver going forward. Good job as always @hawaiibadboy
That said, a few words about my experience with FatFreq: I came in with managed expectations having heard about some of their previous logistical issues, but I still feel they could do better. The timeline for me was:
- ordered on the 24th of July with August 30th expected ship date
- after initial confirmation received absolutely no email updates after the expected ship went by, all the way until a month later on September 30th when I got the email about being one of the first 150 orders and qualifying for the engraving
- after a quick exchange confirming my choice of engraving received a shipping notification on October 3rd
- the package wasn’t actually shipped until October 15th
- got into my country on October 28th
- picked it up on November 4th(1st is a holiday here)
I got what I ordered, I got the early preorder bonus, so compared to some others I was lucky and I’m not really complaining, but two things would go a long way:
- Communicate. Literally just send an email that says “hey we got so many orders we have trouble fulfilling them all so we’re going to delay it a month” and it would be infinitely better than keeping your customers in the dark. I’m online enough that I knew what was going on from forums and such, but not all your customers are going to be the same.
- Do better with shipping. I’m not sure if the shipping notification was on fatfreq themselves not posting the item, or just choosing the cheapest shipping option where the carrier wasn’t in any rush. I know that once it reached my country it was moving by the absolute cheapest “registered letter” package type with our national post - I don’t remember the last time I had non-free shipping that arrived this way and it always causes additional delays(the post usually doesn’t carry the packages so you just get a notification in your mailbox and have to go pick it up yourself) $20 for shipping isn’t that much but it’s nearly 10% of the item price, and I kinda expect better these days.
This ended up a bit of a wall of text, but oh well. Time to go listen to my Deuce some more.

I have skin in the game through kids and grandkids.
At this time the Dems are actually in lockstep like never before, and that candidate is someone with intelligence, how she will use it in her possible new job, eh. Anyone saying she is low IQ is actually showing their own ignorance.
I do know people who were fucked by Trump, I mean besides an entire nation.
Rule of law? Yeah I’ll take what I can get in Harris over the frightening alternative.
Voted for Harris in Nevada.

People like Joyce are going to be the 1st to get and the only to get pretty soon since the child stuff among “reviewers”<<<<I use that term as loose as possible. It is an indicator, it’s not what they do.
Companies are losing sales because of games unrelated to QC nd SQ and feel brave.
