I’ve never bought anything from FF, but still
No on both accounts over here. Talk about unmaking the hype machine just as it got going
I that fatfreq were nice company but now no.
FatFreq would have to make something that is 10/10, endgame for me. Then, I’d buy it but not directly from them.
I’ll try to summarize my thoughts:
-
The little contact that I had with FF (Ellie, Yeo and Ben) was courteous. From everything I see and heard but have no hard evidence for it, the engineers and commercial people are fine, but there is someone else there stinking up the place. I will keep pointing at that illustrious CFO as I’ve done a few times now.
-
Even after everything that happened with the Scarlet mini release, they still manage to fuck up even harder. The inability or unwillingness to learn from your past mistakes is a VERY bad business trait, no matter how nice you are.
-
Something I often see (also in my own profession) is that many east-asian businesses tend stay quiet when a fuck-up happens in an attempt to pretend that it never happened and don’t need to take responsibility for it. Even after all this time of international contacts & trade they still don’t seem to grasp that that has the opposite effect on western customers mainly, but basically any customer at this point.
-
So, will this hurt FF in the long run? Maybe… How is the sentiment about this with the Asian headfi community? How is the sentiment with the YT community, etc. I don’t know how much effect our circlejerk or the one on Head-fi, or Chris’s video will have. Are we even the main demographic for FF?? Isn’t their main focus on musicians who are looking for something different than Shure or Westone for the stage?
-
Putting on my asshole hat and stepping in their shoes… I would’t care in the least. Chris can keep screaming at them for a full breakdown of sales. That will never happen unless an economic inspection and some legal shit happens. And good luck trying to make something like that happen if you are a foreigner.

Will I buy from FF again? Yes, on the following conditions: from a trusted reseller who is known to uphold warranty (Elise Audio for example?), and only if the item is in stock with the reseller. Or, directly on a show like Canjam. They need to have it in hand right there, no pre-order slip. Simple transaction, money out of pocket, IEM into pocket directly.
Got my shipping notice on Oct 9th and still no movement. Am I super worried they will never deliver? Not really, but it is ridiculous and starting to give me IMR related PTSD. Would I ever buy from FF again? Nope, too many other companies out there making awesome stuff that actually deliver.
Word vomit warning:
Yeah, it’s been chaos over there. The IEM is freaking awesome. On the Deuce, alone, it’s high marks to me (not to everyone but I love it) but everything else is spiraling.
Seb was a good rep for them. Maybe they’ll wake up. Sounds like they have a Musician/marketing rep who was doing some things with their BabyFreq (musician tuned CIEM) but not sure if he’s actually going into the weeds like Seb was. But Seb is repping for a lot of others like Elysian and he voiced that he likes the people he dealt with but sounds like not the CFO or someone who is tightening the reins. Not going to speculate, but, from the outside looking in, it feels like they’re tightening the reins poorly.
I won’t lie but my experience has been good enough. I’m definitely feeling more in the minority there though and this is just coming from the vocal people. Given the amount of sets, there could easily be way more people either happy AF or the same anger without them coming out and posting about it.
Even I’m probably (more than probably, @hawaiibadboy - I can confidently say that their planar with the SuperStage module would be the best planar set and blows the Letshuoer out of the water like the Death Star going up against Alderaan) going to pick up the planar but I’m going to be very cognizant about how I buy it.
Simple - no. I do not reward bad behavior.
They (FF) do not have a lock-down on good gear. There are many others offering great pieces.
I’m pretty sure I won’t be covering anything from FatFreq for a long, long time. Maybe after an year of consistent, positive feedback from customers. I was actually in the midst of a chat with Seb about doing a Grand Maestro Anniversary edition review, but all that’s moot now anyway.
I have no incoming packages showing on my carrier accounts, and no movement on my tracking. I contacted FatFreq Friday and told them at one month I pretty much consider a package to be lost. Ellie responded that she would look into it for me, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. At this point, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for another unit to be sent out, assuming there’s no proof the current one is actually on its way. I waited through multiple delays and an entire month after shipping notification before getting in touch with them. I think that’s more than enough patience, all things considered. I’m still very much looking forward to trying the set. I think it’ll be perfect for my preferences.
But as for the question: Would I order another FF set in the future?
After this? Not likely.
Also, at this point and with the hindsight of everything that’s gone down, I wish I would’ve just waited and ordered the Punch instead. I don’t have the budget for both.
Not a chance in hell I deal with their clownshow company again.
Same. I’m very interested in an FF planar, but I’ll wait to buy from Bloom or Amazon.
I tried some Acoustune tips and added a nozzle filter to the Deuce, which helped clean up a lot of its main issues. The filter smoothed out the 3kHz peak that caused a harsh, grainy quality, which I thought came from a low-resolution driver. Now, it sounds much better and even scales well with higher volume.
It still doesn’t have the level of detail or clarity you’d expect at this price, and the filter further reduces it slightly, but it also lets me comfortably turn up the volume to insane bass-head levels, where I’m not listening as critically anyway but the drivers’ dynamic snap and punch finally come through, which are also aspects of detail.
Now, I feel the price is well worth it and it offers a bass experience that I feel outdoes Doscinco and Estrella on the whole by a non-insignificant margin.
With the Womens movement to deny sex to men for the election results…there is a sudden influx of funds freed up for investments.
Ladies who close it for election protests are likely very poor sx parners. If you are that NOT INTO it…maybe just make that a lifetime commitment.
I didn’t realize women were blackmailing men…
my wife gave it up as soon as the electoral numbers came in for Donald
