Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews (A Million views?) Part 3/4

Don’t you have some connections to hook him up with a factory and make him the next John Park ? :sunglasses:

I do.
I’ve let them know.
He didn’t have the same apps they use in the beginning. I don’t get involved after introducing a talent or a reviewer.
His business is none of my business.

That’s a rare say in this hobby :raised_hands:

First FiiO product I got was actually my introduction to IEMs, the FH5. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Their products seem to get worse and worse every single time I try a new one. Maybe I just got a dud this time, but that’s too many duds in such a short period of time.

Removing a promised feature because you couldn’t fix it in firmware, long after the product has already shipped to customers, is just unacceptable.

I think maybe mine are just defective, but FiiO hasn’t made any comments about what their plans are in regards to ambient mode, if there’s something they’re trying to fix, or if they’re just removing it permanently. I also considered the iFi Go Pods, but there’s no ambient feature I’m aware of. Also, for the tech they use, obscenely overprice in my opinion.

No alternatives on the market right now I’m aware of either, which is kind of sad. The tech has been there for a while. Plenty of great TWS options out there with amazing performance stuffed inside a shell smaller than the typical IEM, so adapters like these shouldn’t be so impossible to get right.

Please do. I’ve already expressed my frustraton a bit in an email, hoping to get some answers, but haven’t heard back yet. How can you fumble a V2 release so bad it falls short of the original in virtually every way?

V2 was better than V1 for me though. I meant in terms of them basically abandoning V1. If you hae that many issues, it could be a lemon unit and worth exchanging maybe.

TRN BT20 Pro is your answer.

ughh, my nerdy brain thought that logitech “coin” in the middle was a BC driver.

I’ve tried to contain myself, but to no avail… I need to step away from adulthood for this one.

‘Memms’ or ‘Memmen’ is local dialect here for tits.

I’d love to have some mems pressed up against my ear. :joy:

Do you know of anything with an ambient mode, like the original UTWS5? Done a lot of searching and came back with nothing thus far.

I probably do have a lemon. As much as I hate doing that, given the baffling decision to remove the ambient mode on the latest app/firmware, I may have to consider that and just avoid updating them. Until FiiO does whatever they’re secretly doing and adds it back maybe. I got them on HiFiGo because it was the only place on the internet that had them in stock, so I expect there’s going to be less pain exchanging than refunding anyway? Was really hoping they’d be on Amazon to make sending them back and forth a lot less painful.

Maybe I should’ve been more patient, but there doesn’t really seem to be any alternatives with the feature set I need.

Nice. I heard you mention a Hiby R8 II in one of your vds last week - sound any good?

Did a bit more research on this last night and I think the KZ AZ20 might be the best option with the current state of things being what they are. Maybe?

Better Bluetooth chip than the UTWS5 2025. Access to AptX Lossless, which is a genuinely great bit-to-bit codec. 1/3 the price of the UTWS5 2025 currently on AliExpress. Downside being QDC only, so keep the reversed polarity in mind with adapters.

Still doesn’t have ambient mode, so not something I can make regular use of, but might be a neat little setup for my Deuce (with a QDC to 2pin adapter).

It does not have ambient mode, if thats ok with you then I would just get the TRN BT20 Pro (for battery life) or the TRN BT30 Pro for the qualcomm chip.

The KZ AZ20 uses the Qualcomm QCC5171 chip.

Ambient mode is the real bummer, though (at least for me). Somebody will make a good one eventually, but looks like we’ll be waiting a little while longer.

I have a decent little selection of TWS options, so in reality I’m not sure why my brain is taking me on this big detour, but it is what it is.

I am aware it has a newer and better chip, but it is also more than 2x the price of the TRN and KZ is scum.

For sure. You’re not wrong. Seems like in that particular space we’re all too often forced to separate the art from the artist. Is TRN a pretty good company? I skim through the banter throughout the thread, but I’m not as educated on that aspect as a lot of you guys are.
