Yeass, I have got my eyes on the Ellipse too! Seems like a very interesting proposition, I am just curious to know more about them.

Did anyone try using the apex modules from 64audio to the grand maestro?
I think I give up on FiiO. Past 3 purchases from them in a row have been defective either by design or by chance. K11 amp has a cutout during heavy bass drops, which I’ve tested extensively on multiple firmware versions. Even the replacement I was sent did the same thing. Tested on multiple systems too, by the way. Switched to the iFi Zen Dac V3.
New AptX Lossless dongle came out, perfect for my phone that doesn’t support it, and it’s so choppy with connections as to be completely unlistenable. Was hoping for a firmware update on that one, but haven’t seen it yet.
Now, get these new UTWS5 2025 earhooks today. Figured I could at least expect decent performance from them, because despite the UTWS5 originally having some quirky issues the sound quality and ambient mode performance were fairly good. Reviewers heavily praised them. Straight away, chirping/buzzing in the right ear when I turn ambient mode on. Update to the latest firmware… and they’ve removed ambient mode entirely. Whole reason I bought it, removed via software AND firmware.
Just wanted to warn anyone else maybe looking for a wireless alternative to using this set with the best hardware/codecs. Will have to keep waiting on that one.
I did email FiiO to give them a chance to explain before I return them, and will update.

FiiO was the 1st company to try and tell me what to and not to say in reviews.
I trolled them with a DAP interview video and that was end of that.

1st UTWS5 i had the battery refused to charge…got them replaced and they currently work OK but battery life still isnt what they state.
Tempted to ditch them for the iFi Go pods but theyre significantly more expensive.

Honestly, I think I’m going to invest in a pair next year instead of the ThieAudio Origin. They’re about the same price, both with a BC driver except one is supporting a member of the community.
I think that makes my choice pretty dang clear… Enjoy the new set, brother!
