I used scissors to slightly bend pins together. But it’s easy to break pins that way, I’d recommend practice on a cable you don’t care about.

My first deuce impressions
Fit and comfort :
Comfort is good but it has a chonky nozzle even for me (i use L tips), stock tips are good but hard to get a good seal for my ears.
I switched to my normal spinfit cp100’s for a better seal. They are a pain to get on the stem but it is possible.
Build quality in general is good enough , faceplate is nice , nozzle seems a bit fragile because of the thick lip (compared to metal nozzle/thieaudio)
I received the revised set without the raised area around the 2pin connector , so it felt ok to cable roll.
The cable itself is pretty good , does’nt twist and i personally have no issue with microphonics. The changable connector works well.
Sound :
Suprisingly good soundstage and mids , seems noticably more resolving that Thieaudio L5 , better treble extention too.
Bass quality is great as expected, good texture and fast/responsive, sounds natural and deep.
Midbass sometimes feels a tiny bit lean depending on the song but i do like the clean mids it provides. In most music not an issue.
Treble feels natural , sometimes a tiny bit spicy on higher volumes.
Instrument seperation is good.
I think i prefer DDs over BA’s , no weird timbre and everything feels nice and snappy. Might just be because i used to dailydrive an older set (thieaudio L5).
Drums and guitars sound lovely, Voices sound natural , even female voices.
Daily use :
With stock tips the seal breaks after a while as the chonky nozzle sometimes wants to slide out of my ear, but spinfits fix this issue IF you can get them on, i had to use older ones with a bit stretched stem as new ones are just too tight to get on. Probably ill tiproll a bit more eventually.
Sometimes i wish the fit was a bit deeper? Not sure yet
My library sounds great with this set , maybe im a bigger basshead than i thought because i find myself using the bass adapter for some music like Massive attack. It bleeds a tiny bit in the mids but its worth it for the raw bass fun on some stuff. It really vibrates in your ears.
Listening to podcasts/youtube while working is also very good, no weirdness going on with voices being to husky due to bass. Female voices still sound good too.
Any misses?

Cable looks and feels good , but its a bit heavy.
Midbass could be a bit more on some songs.
Treble can rarely be a bit spicy on some songs at higher volumes.
Full on tribrid sets are close in price and might be more resolving for the money.
Ordering directly from Fatfreq was a mistake.
All in all , it feels like a good upgrade over my trusty old L5 , tuning wise its way more fun but not too fatiguing for work.
I’m enjoying it a lot and it will be my new daily for the coming while.
The Fatfreq saga :
I think its important to note how the pre-order went and how my experience was dealing with fatfreq directly.
I preordered the Deuce knowing Fatfreq’s trackrecord with the scarlet mini , so i expected things to be delayed especially after the huge preorder numbers.
It wasnt a big suprise that the Deuce got delayed but 3 months is extreme , the most dissapointing part for me was just the lack of ANY communication.
It wouldve helped a lot if they’d just give updates and a honest timeline.
This wasnt my biggest issue though. My biggest issue was the complete shit-show of customer support in the beginning.
When it finally got sent , my package got lost after arriving in the Netherlands and going trough customs.
After getting no reply on my emails or chats , my only resort was to absolutely spam them on every channel available. I had to do this for 2 WEEKS before i finally got a response. The promise was to start a case with Singpost and they’d get back to me in a week or 2.
After 3 weeks expired and after i asked for an update , there was again no reply for over 2 weeks. So i started sending messages again.
This time Ellie picked up the case and things finally started moving. She got everything sorted and added an upgrade cable for my troubles.
Within a week i got my Deuce.
So in short , it was a mess. I dont think it was their fault that the package got lost , but the lack of response and the amount of effort i had to put in to get anything resolved is simply not Ok. I’m not even the worst case , some people still havent gotten an answer to any of their issues.
I am still thankful for Ellie though , she cared enough to fix things and she kept me up to date all the way and made things right in the end.
Never preorder shit from FF directly , just wait till its available on the hangout or linsoul or whatever , or just skip FF all together in favor of more responsible brands.

Yo yo yo, this is so beautiful. I am already so tempted to buy the BTR 17 and the HBB Punch, and now this is on the wish list. As much as I love the Deuce red blood cables, I just might want to purchase it

The Hype 10 reminds me, god I love isobaric bass.
It has a really nice balance of technical sound with engaging bass, and even a bit of mid bass. ThieAudio and Ziigaat are the best at this style of tuning.

I know they are in different price categories but could you compare them sound wise? I mean Deuce vs Scarlet Mini.

I think I was smirking when I wrote that too, so nice to see it was read in the same spirit.
The current meta seems to be the tucked mid bass, that makes rock sound a bit thin. I tend to enjoy sets that add some mid-bass into the mix. I was in the camp that said, at least to my ears, Doscinco was better than Cincotres, and Arcadia beat both of those.
I think the meta is trying to avoid mud and mid-bass bleed, and I think the Hype 10 had mid-bass, but didn’t harm the bass or mids for doing so.

I’ve been loving this set. Unnaturally bright, yes, but so so detailed. I don’t love the design, but it looks great with this cable.
