This is what it came with, I believe they just updated the hardware on the same cable.

That’s dope. Flipears gives me good vibes.

Interesting to note is that those who have tried both Legion and Aegis, have a strong preference for one over the other - this is not simply a matter of the more expensive brother Legion having an extra driver for added technicalities - they’re tuned very differently.

Supposedly the Aegis will graph “in the ballpark of” ThieAudio Origin, with smooth non-peaky treble and a stronger, more noticable BC performance over Legion and both the DD & BC is focused in the sub-bass. It’s said where the Origin is a more distant listening, the Aegis is more intimate and more visceral.

The electret driver is not in Aegis. That was definitely what my only issue was. I love bass. I can hear piezo and BA un dampen (cheap ones anyway). And planar treb is something most people can hear :ear:. I think Aegis is aimed at me. Unintentionally obviously but I definitely don’t have a electret drive set in my collection for a reason.

Great company vibe I agree.

Yep.

Piezo always ends up sounding unnatural and peaky. It’s been said countless times by now, it’s a cheap imitation of EST and why it’s not found in any of the really expensive big boi sets.

More on Aegis - someone said it sounds clean & consistent like a sub-bass tilted All-BA set.

In fact, one guy said it reminds him of Elysian Diva on Max bass settings… Only better.

He actually ranked it above it. But ontop of that, it has a special tube-like decay or musical resonance for the mids, like the IEM shell acts like an echo chamber.

This sounds extremely intriguing for me and I’ve placed my Aegis order this morning.

Do it :muscle:

I would hope to attempt the same, but my typical day in the office (roughly once a week for the next six weeks) encompasses five hours of driving and a bunch of meetings each time.

I think what I should do is aim for being active every day I’m not in the office. Never not getting the heart rate up. Gym, cardio at home, hike, etc…

Yup, piezo treble is not on anyone’s “Gimmie that” list.
People can hear more driver characeristics than most assume.
Planar treb,
Piezo treb,
bad whistle/metallic BA treb,
micro DD bass,
Planar bass (Good thing)

I’m very much looking forward o Aegis :boom: :100:

Tomorrow is Tuesday so I gotta basically punch the wall for my training. Tuesday and Sunday are hard to get done :ballot_box_with_check: I’m aiming for a 30 day streak though. Gotta get that badge in the app

Damn ok thats good news!! Just wish they’d actually update the puck…

Legion may not have been a love fest for you, but the fact that they didn’t shy away from it says a lot. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Aegis…hope it impresses!

Actually those Sonion “EST” are technically Electret based.

They sound quite different to my ear. I have not kept anything with em or piezo in treb or micro DD. Some stuff just doesn’t sound ideal/normal/pleasing/natural

Piezo is a also a different from tech from Electrets though. Same goes for the Shuoer Tape driver as that is a Magnetostatic driver (also used in that KZ ZEX), made by Earbridge.

The only true Electrostatic iem I know of would be the Shure KSE1200/1500 and the Stax SR-003MK2

KSE was first “flagship” I ever bought. 10 years later I bought a Mems set with an energizer and that type of rig is just not my thing long term

Add:
Mems drivers

To stuff that is audibly unique.

Fast to superfast decay like a planar on roids. Love it for some stuff but upper mids and treb are unique

mems drivers are based on piezos upgraded to full range capability, but otherwise yeah.

Aries from FlipEars is legit one of the nicest people in the industry every single time I’ve talked to him and all the reports at NYC CanJam said the same. Excited to see your take on Aegis, too, man!

I was going to send Aegis to you, too, but I know Aries was excited to see your thoughts on Legion. I’m glad you guys linked up!

Great dudes✅

Used to be a funny fails compilation but the Robby Lawler and Rory McDonald interlude is epically placed.
