No, they are selling sub 100 dollar stuff for 1300 and as a rub…it’s tuned like shit.
We all know China (CFA is a by proxy chifi company lets all be real) China can tune stuff so atleast have a goal and do something besides lining your pockets.
Just blatant. That tuning would be laughed at by anyone who didn’t have a dick in their ass ($$$)
Socal canjam is around the corner and I may actually be able to attend this year unfortunately not for both days.
I have heard it can be overwhelming with the amount of gear you can check out.
So, I know I won’t be buying anything over $400, what under 400 iems and or headphones should I line up to try? Generally would like a solid all rounder and one that exceeds with metal style music.
Also.
What headphones or iems should I line up to try for fun and wow factor?
And I would be taking my daughter who was upset we couldn’t go last year. So I want to be on the lookout for a set for her that fits her ears … So any recommendations for small ear challenged people to try out
I’m not sure how much it’ll be in USD (though it should be less than $400) but I’d definitely check out the Yu9 Audio Que. It was the first one I listened to in London and ordered it as soon as it was available at Elise Audio. It is completely different from a lot of the IEMs on the market (different in a good way) and apparently made by a one man operation, which is even wilder. I bought it with the upgrade cable because the only unit left was 3.5 (they are manufactured in small quantities) but I’d personally would have been happy with the 4.4 version of the standard cable.
No price would make me want to buy an iem with that tuning. It’s just waaaaay too far off my prefs. Midbass and insane mids warmth No vocal presence/bite 2-4khz Been in them waters before (Giant).
I wouldn’t even describe that as “tuned”
Who would ask for bloated bass, no real mids and wonky treble?
There is literally nothing good about the Campfire Audio Grand Luna
And again, it’s a sub $100 set in it’s components, build and accessories
Looked up ODA out of curiosity. Really interested in what your take is going to be. The ‘reviews’ out there make it sound like the best thing ever for the most part…
I agree totally… they don’t change, always a lot of bass bleeding into the mids and ridicolous pricing. But hey if you read on that famous forum… they still have fanboys that want to buy their overpriced products.
Does the Hibycast (that’s what it was called right?) deliver proper lossless over wifi? (I’m assuming it does, just curious because Apple’s version apparently is terrible)
Convert them to flac, put them in a server/NAS and run Navidrome on it. Then when you are outside your home and on mobile data, enable transcoding so it transcodes the files into opus at like 128kbps (same quality as 320kbps mp3) and you have instant access pretty much.
Thanks! That’s not a bad idea. While we’re on the subject of ripping: do you happen to know if dbpoweramp is as good as they say? Have heard a lot about it but never met someone who actually uses it.
