Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews (A Million views?) Part 3/4

Thanks again! Appreciate the effort! Will go and take a look at them.

I used EAC to rip all my 2000odd CD’s to ALAC using an Apple SuperDrive and copied them onto a sandisk 2TB ssd very easy to do, took me the best part of a year to do them all but tbh I never listen to them as I stream everything using tidal/roon at home and just stream tidal when out in car or elsewhere, unlimited mobile data is practically free these days.

It’s nice to have them all tucked away on the SSD just in case everything goes down but not had to access them since I copied them 5 years ago.

I should probably do something with the 7 large boxes of CD’s stacked up in the bedroom but perhaps they’ll be worth something in the future.

Thanks! I also stream everything but don’t want to be solely dependent on Spotify/Apple Music in case licenses expire and artists disappear. And having a backup is indeed handy in case of a temporary breakdown (though we’ll probably have bigger problems to deal with if that were to happen).

I’ve used it in the past and it works.

Thanks! I’ll compare the feature set to the other ones.

Wait, am I reading this correctly. You have not touched the files on the SSD (as in not connecting the SSD to a PC) for 5 whole years? If so you REALLY need to check the files, as cold storage backup like this on SSD is extremely risky and prone to data loss. This is where you should use a HDD instead.

Nah, the sandisk extreme is plugged into my iMac and works fine as I have recently copied 1tb of the files onto an sd card for a cheap Tempotec v1 dap I bought a month or so ago, the tiny dap and my Sony xba-n3 iem’s are my minuscule emergency go to listening device that fits in a pocket without realising its there.

All the files on the Sandisk Extreme 2tb show up in my Roon library and I ā€œcouldā€ play them if I want to, but no need to as I stream everything.

As long as you check back a few times a year it should be fine. (as in powering the ssd on.)

I am completely in line for this one. Basically my favorite company. Everything inside is is clearly stated and I’m a fan of their tuning. Cable on Ti coulda been more premium for a limited release but aside from that nitpick I’m a fan :+1:

Good to have multiple options.
If the zombies come you just need grab your device of choice and find someplace to recharge :skull:

Meanwhile, i played rugby today and there is no badge . Dancing and Aerobics get a badge but Rugby no?

If a tree falls in the forrest and nobody is around to hear it…does it make a sound?

Who cares.
Do you get a badge for it?
It’s all about badges man

Well, decades of pop culture have taught me that there will be plenty of batteries etc. available for decades after the zombie apocalypse (looking at you Walking Dead and spin-offs) so that won’t be an issue

That sounds like a weird omission. Perhaps Apple thinks rugby is something their demographic doesn’t like  When I read ā€˜it’s all about badges’ I could hear Weird Al singing ā€˜it’s all about the badges baby’

Or before age verification via IDs come to everything.

The first step will be a facial age estimation. This means that users take a picture of themselves, which is then scanned using Yoti’s age-estimating AI service. If they are believed to be 18+, their age will be verified, and they will be able to access the content.

However, if Yoti can’t be sure that the user is above 18 from the image alone, users will then have to verify their age using photo ID.

Unreal that private sector is going to be gatekeeping and doxxing everyone and then selling the info later which is what happens.
They will make more money off their gray business than white one.
In plain sight.
Crazy shit

Not to mention the EU proposal that Denmark revived, the one where social media companies will be required to scan your messages before they are encrypted and sent to someone else… That is absolutely 1984. Will be a test for the strength of the agencies and institutions that have spoken out against it, like the privacy watchdogs. I’m guessing that such a law, if it were to come into effect, would ultimately be struck down by the EU court of Justice ( :crossed_fingers:) but the fact that this is considered perfectly fine using child safety as a ruse is batshit insane.

Don’t forget that they are also coming after VPNs. People in the UK have apparently been getting ā€˜disable your VPN so that YouTube can provide you with the best possible content messages’…

And, to top it off: the Visa/MC war on ā€˜adult content’ thanks to some crazy Australian group of zealots…

Yeah, i believe that is ā€œchat controlā€ā€¦and I believe this or something else also stated that they want to removed encryption for messages…its dumb af.

The US wants this:

UK has age verification for pretty much everything and VPN blocking.

Australia needs ID to use search engines and like google maps…

They didnt only ban legal adult content, they also banned some horror games and is now after GTA, duke nukem and Saints row
