Currently owning a hd600, would be looking to buy a Sundara or Ananda soon, For music type I like contemporary classics/modern classics, classics, electrics, instruments, folk, orchestra, Jpop. I like details a lot, big sound stage(hd600 feels super narrow), good imaging and sound separation. I want to get surrounded by instruments playing around me and able to identify all their position. I’ve tested the hd560s hd600 and hd650 at shop, I like hd560s and 600 more, so I think I’m on the analytical side for music.
Would be use to listen to music and watch video most of the time. Sometimes gaming, budget about 500~550USD. I live in SEA wont be able to get US EU DAC/AMP with out forwarder, easily available brands are TOPPING, SMSL, AUNE, iFi, FiiO, Xduoo. Welcome other recommendations of headphone, dac and amp. Wont be able to test those a physical shop due to lock down from Covid, so your opinion matters a lot to me.
For DAC been looking at
Aune X8, Aune X1s, ifi Zen DAC.
For AMP been looking at
Xduoo mt602, SMSL SH-9, Aune X7s, ifi Zen CAN.
Example of music I listen to
Personally I wasn’t a fan of Sundara or entry planars as I feel they give a two walls of sound effect which isn’t exactly great for accurate imagine and realistic soundstage. I use a pair of AKG K712 for classical.
For analytical DAC and amp, I’d probably suggest something like Geshelli ENOG/JNOG/J2 and an Archel 2.5 Pro or Erish

I prefer not to buy from US, I have bad experience with forwarding service. and Geshelli Labs also state they dont cover warranty on forwarding damage.
Welcome to HFGF …I predict a long tread anything “analytical” gets really convoluted lol.

Geshelli ships worldwide but if it’s not convenient or available then maybe Topping or sth I dunno
I tried to buy off their website, it doesn’t seem to allow me to buy them.
AKG k712 abit more expensive for me compare to sundara what you think about k702?
Ah ok, must be a regional thing then. In the UK 712 sometimes can be half the price of Sundara. I find the 701/702 to be a bit dull as it’s neutral bright with almost no bass. K712 is a bit warmer with some bass and I feel the placement and soundstage is not as wacky
if it interests u I’d suggest emailing them they are super friendly and responsive
I emailed Geshelli, they say there’s no shipping to my area. I have to find something else.
