Not looking to go past 200$, and I’m trying to avoid using an amp/dac as all I could afford if I were to get one is like a zen at absolute best
I know the 280pros and the k361’s are recommended because they show up on the headphone guide, but having heard the sound demo’s for those, they sound like shit to me, bass anemic and shallow.
If they don’t sound like that pls confirm. I used my 30i clears as reference. (As you can tell Im kind broke) I listened to the sound demos for those and the bass was present, so as far as /I/ know its not the sound demo’s fault the 280’s and k361’s sounded like that. Granted I know they’re hit and miss.
Given they’re for monitoring, are you looking exclusively for closed?
I think the K361 is fairly consumer tuned, so I wouldn’t rely to heavily on what you heard from a YouTube sound demo. I’ve not heard them personally, though.
While I have not hear your models, I can recommend the sennheiser hd 560, some called those mini focal clear and to me it sounds really nice, not hyper detailed or smooth like, but definitely worth it and great price / performance ratio.
I suggest you follow the DMS review for a better description and performance review.
And from diy heaven review:
“Those wanting/needing to do some mastering or mixing get a good and affordable tool for this.”
I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770’s 80ohm limited edition I’m looking to sell, looking for $140 shipped, low hours, used them for monitoring on my Moog, pm if interested…. Now I use Ollo S4X for studio headphone stuff and Focal Clears
