Best Closebacks for OTL Tube Amps like Darkvoice

As the title says, looking for a closebacks that go well with OTL tubeamps. I know most of the ZMF stuff does, but what else is out there sub $1000. Thanks!

A dt770 250 ohm is a pretty fun pairing imo. The ndh 20 as well. There aren’t many options tbh because most closed backs end up being lower impedance and the dv doesn’t really respond the best with lower impedance headphones

Yeah I’m leaning dt770. Ever heard an old 600ohm unit?

I had a nd20 for a long time, but sold it due to comfort and getting a Focal Elegia. It was good on tubes though for sure.

Yes it’s quite good, if you can find one it’s pretty worthwhile imo

Makes sense

Recently picked a balanced modded one of these up. Just keep in mind if you find one, that if you’re going from something with a mid focus like the Elegia to the 770, the mids are likely to feel a bit sucked out until you get adjusted. Otherwise, agree with m0n that they’re solid. I don’t have an OTL to test them on, but really enjoy them on my Hafler HA75 hybrid.

Oh yeah I would imagine they would vs the Elegia. To different uses though. I’m going to be hooking my Darkvoice up to my Home Theatre. I already had the 770 on my radar, but maybe I will look for a pair of 600ohm. Any other Ideas though?

I’m coming up blank for other high impedance closed backs to use with OTL.

For OTL Amps, your pretty much stuck with Sennheiser/ZMF/Beyer, and some of the AudioTechnica stuff.

Apparently the Senn HD250 Linear is good on tubes, but discontinued and tough to find.

You can do a Beyer MMX 300 Manufaktur 600 ohm but you would have to work around the ordering and the shipping through a third party adding to the final cost.
