Hi, can you recommend me some IEMs for gaming and movies? Budget around €100/150… After doing some research, these models attracted me, but I’m very undecided and would like advice from someone who is more experienced than me!
Simgot EM6L
Truthear Zero RED
Hidizs MP145 (planar)
Letshuoer S12 Pro (planar)
I’ve gamed with a lot of IEMs and the memorable ones are:
Moondrop Starfield works great for everything
Final VR3000 need EQ for music, amazing for games
Both have soundstage and no overwhelming bass so game explosions don’t drown everything else out. A Sound blaster X1 with its 5.1 really makes gaming fun.
Supermix 4. Really really good for gaming at the price and great for movies too. ARTTI T10 with TRI Clarion tips is crazy good too. If you don’t have any source gear, imo at bare minimum a GOOD dongle is a straight up requirement. If you aren’t budgeting in/have any source gear, factor that into the cost. ARTTI T10 4.4mm ($52), a set of TRI Clarion tips (~$10), and a really solid dongle like an SMSL D10 ($70) is going to net you better sound than just getting something like a Supermix 4, S12 Pro, EM6L or others and plugging them straight into your PC. There is no scenario whatsoever, no matter how good you think your motherboard audio is, where you will get enough quality out of IEMs where it even makes them worth owning. Games like Warzone actually have decent vertical imaging (really easy to tell if someone is above or below you), but you literally can’t get it at all with motherboard audio, but it’s blatantly obvious with a solid balanced dongle. And for what it’s worth, good dongles now are drastically better for IEMs than almost every single desktop amp/DAC under $300. Any of the “gaming” branded DACs like Soundblaster, Sennheiser’s GSX series, Astro’s mixamp and any of the others, including mixers like a GoXLR are complete and total dog shit and are no better than your onboard audio in the scope of things.
