I am looking for new pair of shelf speakers for my Harman/Kardon HK630 in the 200€ price range. Are the Canton GLE 420.2 or the Klipsch R-50M good options?
Hey, those are both solid options, but it really depends on your preferences. I’ve messed around with speakers in that price range, so here’s my take (just playing devil’s advocate + experience):
Canton GLE 420.2
- Pros: Very clean, pretty neutral sound. Good midrange detail, which is great for vocals and little stuff in tracks.
- Cons: Bass won’t rattle your walls, especially in a larger room. You’ll need them fairly close to walls to get a bit of punch down low.
Klipsch R-50M
- Pros: More dynamic, more punch, especially with louder passages. If you like a more lively, “fun” listening experience, these tend to bring more excitement.
- Cons: Sometimes things like treble can get a little bright depending on your taste and what you’re listening to.
If I were you (with a Harman/Kardon HK630), I might lean toward the Klipsch R-50M, because that combo will probably give you more “oomph” and drive without needing a sub (depending on room size). But if you want something more balanced and relaxed, the Canton could be the way to go.
