I think I read that there is a sound difference in the 880/600 grey pads and black pads is that true?
That has been my experience yes, the black pads further accentuate treble moreso than the grey, and also the black pads are more dense as well
I have the black pad version that bought from drop, black special edition, is there enough of a difference to buy the grey if I have the black? I really like them with my emotiva.
I think if you like them I would just keep it as is. I think if you wanted to try them out, the 990v grey pads are solid to try, but if you are happy now I wouldnāt change it, itās not like you are really missing out or anything

Going to have to agree with the others here it really boils down to preference in this caseā¦ if its only due to sound stage and imaging the 58x would be better in this regard. 880 is a much brighter headphone but plays good in many casesā¦ definitely change the amp if your going 600 ohm go with a liquid spark otherwise go magni 3+ and your goldenā¦ not tried the tube amp but reviews say they are very good with them. 250 ohm sounds okay 600 ohm makes the bass more prominent, tones the treble to the point imo its more enjoyable and the mids do sound a bit more clean.
