šŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic DT880 600Ī©

This pad swap is like buying a whole different set of headphones. The difference is amazing, and better.

Well, unless you bought the dekoni velour. Then itā€™s just like you added +5 to comfort and a bit of soundstage about it really other sound changes are minor

I have the Choice Suede pads.

I am aware, my current favorite pads right now are those. Well those and the hybrids are amazing

Thanks for the comments re Sundaras. Was just wonderingā€¦good to know. I do like the stock pads and LOVE the sound I am getting, especially since I got the Asgard 3. Now THAT was an improvement!!! Midrange just came aliveā€¦and that soundstage depth!

I have just put my zmf eikon suedes on the 880 because of you guys. A quick listen tells me that this is quite nice :grimacing:. Need to explore the 880 again now

Itā€™s some kind of sorcery.

Much more low-end but the treble is still there, just a bit tamed, not as sibilant as before. Really nice. Donā€™t need to talk about comfort I guess. So much better

Has anyone ever tried installing dt1990 drivers into their dt880ā€™s? I have my first dt880 with dead drivers and will be doing this mod in the future but now was wondering if anyone may have heard what they sound like? Iā€™ve read of one person doing it on head-fi and they said the bass is there, much more revealing of the music but no mention of the highs.

Any input on different drivers in the dt880 would be appreciated.

Interesting.

Thatā€™s really interesting considering the price.

I recently tried two different pads on my DT880 600Ī©.

Brainwavz hybrid - added bass and relaxed the highs, but it really muddied up the sound. Not worthwhile.

Dekoni Choice Suede - Just like Z said, it makes them rich sounding. Much more enjoyable to listen to for a longer session, however I feel it looses just a little to much of the highs. Still a great variation on the DT800ā€™s sound signature.

ARGH! DMS made me buy DT 990ā€™s. Iā€™ve always wanted a set, have been fishing used and cheap for a long time - all this despiteā€¦ not great overall feedback about them. But with this 600 ohm version (which I donā€™t see out there often) Iā€™m looking forward to OTL tube on them, maybe pad-rolling (though I love the stock grey Beyer pads). Thanks a lot, interwebz.

@skian
Have try the Choice Suede without the foam?

Pretty good deals:

That would probably be the right balance.
Whatā€™s holding that foam in place? Can it be easily re-installed?

I thought DMS hated the DT 990ā€™s.
Way too sharp. If theyā€™re sharper than the DT 880s, I couldnā€™t imagine being able to use them. The DT 880ā€™s are my upper upper limit of brightness that I can handle.

New review on the 600 ohm, feels the higher resolving nature of higher-impedance model (and maybe more exposure/experience) seems to be warming him. I have some fetish for high-impedance, so it felt right to me.

The Ring klips in and holds the driver and the foam in place. Itā€™s not glued or something
