Budget/Entry IEMs recommendations

Just a follow up to my post. So, the KZ ZST & the ZSN Pro both arrived this morning. Immediate impressions. I do like the sound from both. The nozzle length on the ZST is problematic, very hard for me to get them fitted into my ears comfortably. Also, the tips they come with are utter trash. So plan on switching them out. The ZSN Pro is a much better fit. Still, also switched out the tips again. Now, I find the sound to be better than the CCA-C10. The CCA are kind of shouty, not horrible but when you consider they cost twice the price of either of these KZ units, it’s a no brainer. The only real issue other than the size of the ZST is that neither of the KZ have a right/left marking on them. So you have to wing it. All that said, I think the ZSN Pro is the solid choice here. Beautiful sound quality for the price.

I will give these a try.

Bro all of the dudes above are right and there are definitely plenty of good choices, that will make you a happy listener. BUT, personally, I’ve found the Tin T2’s the most insane steal ever. Although I’m a Fiio fan and I own FH1 and FH5, I bought them because I found them 25E only in Wooeasy store in Aliexpress and I was curious, after the hype. And man, believe it or not, I hate to say that they made me think that maybe it was a mistake to give 250E (+50E taxes in my country) for the FH5. They sound insanely good for 25E, for 50E, for 75E and if I bought them 150E, I’d be very pleased with their performance. As the others say, yes there is a nice soundstage, all the frequencies and the overall tonality is super balanced, bass is there, when existing, nothing boomy, vocals are sooo warm and live and never fatiguing and the highs provide tones of details and never, but never get sibilant. And all that for this cost? Ok , FH5 is a sub bass king, with a pretty nice soundstage too, little nore detail in low and overall frequencies, but sometimes, let’s say 5% of playtime they get fatiguing in high volume, with high pitched female voices or when the ring of the snare is hit, common in reggae music. But all this only when very loud. T2’s are literally flawless and their worse sound quality is miles less than their price difference. PEACE !

Just bought a recabled pair of Sony mh755 and holy shit.

Might be the best price to performance ive ever heard, at $8 a pair these things punch way above their weight class.

Yeah I think these things sound better than my Tin T2, I’m so serious right now, I’m loving this shit. They are super clean sounding with good imaging and separation, fairly decent sound stage, and excel in the upper midrange. The bass is pretty decent as well, nothing that will appease bassheads but it’s serviceable.

Someone needs to tell zeos about these, seems right up his alley.

Where were these recabled? These look sweet

Thank you sir, I know I’m late to the MH 755 train, but I think I’m going to aquire a pair or 2 and do my own mod. I like my KZN Pro cable so I think going to do a double pin if I can, otherwise I do a mmcx mod.

A guy on r/avexchange bought a bunch and recabled them, I think he’s getting ready to sell a new batch here soon.

Yeah I’m already looking into buying a second pair with a mmcx mod, the guy I bought this pair from is looking into how he can make a mmcx mod profitable for him.

Mmcx would definitely be pretty nice, something I would look into. I guess I could do it myself though tbh

So I finally received a couple of MH 755s I got on ebay. I think agree with you, I find them more enjoyable than the T2. It’s lighter so it’s way more comfortable, the bass is at a level that I prefer, and I feel that for the $6-7 I paid, I can’t really fault it**. **Other than that wacky cable that will eventually be replaced.

I have the parts to do a mmcx mod, not sure if I feel like tackling this over the weekend. However, based on how much I’m currently enjoying how these sound, I will have to do the conversion sooner than later.

I was curious how much work I’d have to do. Looks like the mmcx connector I got fits snuggly without any drilling. Taking it apart was easy enough.

$6.95 for IEM
$11 for 2x mmcx connectors.

$12+ for new mmcx cable.

So ~$20 or $30+ if you need a cable.

With completed mod and new KZ $12 mmcx cable.

Quick question about the KZ ZSTs, what tips would you folks recommend to replace the stock ones with?

mh 755, blon BL 03, KZ zsn are all pretty excellent for the prices

I would reccomend going for the ZSN over the ZST a little better IMO

What would you say would make the best gift for a friend who really doesn’t use anything like external amps to listen on their phone or laptop?

What type of music does your friend Listen to?

They listen to rock, and a fair bit of its variations (hard rock, pop, etc), along with metal and a bunch of lo-fi.

I listen to a lot of lo fi and can really reccomend the Blons cause of the darker sound sig wont expose them crackly lo fi feel too much or the KX ZSN if you want a cheaper package. the blons aren’t the worst stock but need the cable and tips changed to be excellent

I did hear these were better than blons but I haven’t heard them yet so I cant say
