Yes my balanced outputs sound slightly warmer than SE and I donāt think itās power output alone. I wouldnāt say itās night and day difference. I run Supercharger + 4 Sparkos + balanced output almost exclusively.

Is ābypass modeā the same thing as āpowerampā mode where you use a different device for volume control? If so I havenāt tried this yet but Iād like to one day.

No Iām not getting much noise with many of my headphones (LCDX, LCD3F, OG clear, Celestee, HP3) and no noise with 1266 Phi TC. I run all my HPs in med gain with exception of TC.

Not sure my volume stage sounds great. The only issue I have is between steps 51 ā 52 there is a large / in-ordinate increase in volume where everything else is a decent increment. I know there is a āfixā for this issue but it doesnāt bother me enough to reach out to Burson.
Niiiiiiice. Starting to look really familiar lol. Had a chance to try it out yet?
I have read about them having volume chip problems that I thought got remedied in the past and they seemed pretty willing to make things right. Everyone I saw having the problem in the past when they first came out was taken care of pretty quickly. Maybe itās an early model that somehow stayed at the back of the shelf and restocks kept getting put in front of it at the headphones.com warehouse or something. Could easily just be a fluke on Bursonās part as well, nobodyās perfect I guess lol.
That is what I am thinking. going to email Burson next week.
Not yet man! The minute i connected the cables and took this picture my wife got into labour! LOL
I am typing this from a delivery room waiting for daughter #2, the doc says it can be another 12 hours so i am here killing time online
Nice. Whatās your childbirth mobile setup? Seriously congratulations and hereās to bringing a new basshead into the world! Iāll leave you alone and take all the time you can to soak it all in
Wow please get off your phone and off this forum and āhelpā your wife. My wife would clip my jeuvos If I was in hifiguides talking Burson.
Congrats btw
LOL thanks, its not like that though, we are just here waiting and they say it will be more than 12 hours, maybe more than 24, we are both chilling here
Hey @Pokrog, how do you organize your Soloist + Little Bear? The little bear is light and it wiggles back and forth when i touch it to change the volume.
I am thinking about getting an acrylic rack suck as this one:
Maybe i will also need a double sided tap to āglueā it so it wont move, not sureā¦
Still killing time here
I sandwiched mine side by side between my DAC and amp too make it not move lol. I thought about using Velcro to stick it down.
I simply cut a small piece of foam and laid it across the back feet of the switcher. Then place the switcher down on the foam. It provides enough weight shift to the front to keep it down and stable. No glue or anything else needed. The other option was blue tack on the feet.
I glued some metal plates inside of mine XD
Hey Alfredo,
It looks like the Soloist was purchased during the Black Friday sale which is why the Soloist would be final sale. $1144 is the full retail price of the Soloist 3x.
The Soloist you received was received at our warehouse November 23rd (shipped from Burson at the end of October) so it would be one of the later units found in North America.
If you believe the unit is having issues though, definitely reach out to us and we can take care of you!
Iām glad that Burson reps are reading this thread. Please next time mark L and R xlr ins and outs on the case, not just in the manual, and make volume control that makes sense, thatās the most annoying thing. Instead of 0-100 make 0-50 or 0-30 for the same volume range. Youāll want to use medium gain with most headphones, but your current volume control is useful only on high gain. I understand that current method is probably designed to make any gain precise with any headphone, but Iād better switch between gains more often while having better experience with each gain settings
Oh Iām not from Burson. I am from Headphones.com. Iāll make sure to pass your feedback along to the guys at Burson though!
Does anyone know or direct me to a person who does know if the thx789/ thx 887 has a centre positive polarity? Interested in getting the super charger and the thx amps meet all the reguirments except i dont know about that polarity.
Thx
the supercharger does work but i would just recommend getting a better amp. they just arenāt it.
Yeah i know what you mean. Would love the 3x if i had the bucks. I will say that the monoprice 887 is superior to the drop 789. Noticable increase in weight ( not as thin sounding) and top end smoothness ( not brittle).
Many think they sound the same. They do not.
I also find the 887 a bit more transparent than my Rebel amp.
Hence i was thinking of giving the super charger a chance with the 887.
Are other people here getting the noise floor on medium gain on this thing or it just us Zen DAC users? The guy I bought it from also used the T1s on it and heās saying he got 0 noise on any gain, and that something is definitely wrong. Also, noise floor aside, is it fucked up Iām on medium gain at 70 SE with the Edition XS? I was expecting them to require juice, but fuck me, wasnāt expecting medium gain at 70 on this baby
