Interesting. At least that seems to confirm that dude had his account hacked. Either way, this seems like a small inconvenience to deal with for people to be a bit more secure. Let’s hope it works to limit these occurences in the future.

The updated timestamp requirement would actually have been enough in this case, but it relies on buyers checking for it instead of thinking “this is a picture of the item I want to buy, seems legit”.
No harm in an extra layer though.
Also for all their cracking down on F&F payments instead of giving a comprehensive warning (definitely valid) and then letting adults decide who they’ll take that risk with, this goes to show how incredibly risky a “trade” can be with anyone you don’t trust very well. “Send me yours and I’ll send you mine” is just as risky as “I’ll send you a non refundable payment and you send me the goods”.

Yeah, trades are by far the riskiest transactions around. There’s a reason they’re favored by scammers. No PayPal or CC company to take the money back and by the time anyone knows for sure that something’s wrong it’s too late and there’s little to no recourse available. I mentioned it on that thread, but I would literally never do a trade with a random on Head-Fi and I’d only do it with guys I trust if I can afford to lose my end of the trade. That’s just common sense in my book.
