So I am in the search for a decent entry level SE headphone amp, or amp/dac, that starts up very quickly, or preferably can be left on overnight without overheating concerns.
So I’ve been working/taking class remotely most days of the week, and I’ve gotten really lazy. I wake up around 2 minutes before class/clocking in most days. Anyways, my desktop is currently using a Fiio E10K which turns on pretty quickly, but I’d like to upgrade to something a little nicer. I don’t actually switch it off at night, and just power down my PC, and everything shuts off all nice safely because the E10K is powered through USB. The next morning, I hit the power button on my PC, and everything is ready to go.
I actually already own a Liquid Spark, but I keep that in my nightstand as a bed listening amp. That amp takes some time to power up, and it heats up a little too much for me to be comfortable with leaving next to some of the other things at my desk. I have a spare Topping D10 though, so that opens me up to either an amp or an amp/dac combo.
So, I’m looking for an amp, or an amp/dac, that can either turn on quickly, or be left on overnight without power concerns. Just anything that sounds good and is a little more powerful will do. My budget is anywhere from around 100-200 USD, but I could stretch it a lot further if necessary. My current first pick is the xDuoo XD-05 Basic, but I haven’t looked too closely into it, or done too much research about other similar products.
I was looking at some class A amps, the Flux FA-12S or the Rebelamp, but I don’t know how I feel about running those with a Topping D10, but I could use that as an excuse to get a nicer DAC. I also personally would rather use such nice amps for my listening setup at my bed instead of my desk, because I don’t do anything besides play games and work from my desk.
Anyways, I would love some suggestions for amps or amp/dacs that turn on quickly, or can be left on overnight without getting significantly warm/hot.
Thank you very much!
