Oh, yeah it’s a big boy.
Hmmm yeah, it should be more than plenty. The UP2 does 67mw output power and it gets close to what I want but not quite there.

It’s really worth lol. But if you wanted smaller and high quality the chord mojo is a good pick
These are next on my list, if I don’t get distracted.
The Cascades are back in stock for those looking. I got an email today, but I am going to hold off myself.
@BoomShroom still a good buy now? I’m looking for my techno/ bass music cans, not much on the forums about them
Does anyone know if the only thing they changed was making the Campfire Audio logo matte black?
@11_Clouds If what you’re looking for is FAT bass without sacrificing solid all-around technicalities then I definitely think you should consider it. It also depends on your budget because it retails for 800 but I would advise being patient and snatching one up for around 500 to 600 depending on the included accessories. They just started selling them again so last time I checked there weren’t a lot of used ones.
I’m loving the description of these and it sounds like a great daily driver and since you owned a cascade and a 1990 how would you rank them technicality wise compared to 1990, specially directional imaging, speed, and detail.
I read that you rank them above 177x but maybe lower than an eikon?
Also are they good with mainstream music specially metal dnb electronic and rap and not reveal as much flaws in the recordings?
The 1990 is more spacious but the cascade can sometimes have more depth, imaging is good on both but slight edge to the 1990, the campfire actually might be quicker sometimes depending on the amp, and detail wise imo they are on a similar tier but the cascade can present detail in a less aggressive and harsh way
Sounds about right
Very good for that, they are very fun cans for that genre and use case, something you can enjoy without having flaws shoved down your throat like the 1990 lol
Nice thanks. Love how they look too.
Pretty comfy for me as well, but if you are susceptible to hotspots on your head, that might become an issue
Hopefully wont be an issue, never experienced any hotspots with anything i used so far.
What would be an open back version of this signature (with similar or better technicalities than 1990 ofc)? Was about to press order but held back because of the small earcup and being closed back. 1990 earcups spoiled me as my whole ear are in the pads, can’t put anything smaller on now.
If there is nothing comparable I might just find an xl pads for the cascades but I would prefer an open back first.
Hmmm that’s honestly a hard one, because the signature on these is pretty strongly tuned with a unique sound, hard to really say. I know closed wise they kinda had some similarities of like a mdr z1r potentially, and if you don’t mind going for something more neutral but still slightly warmer tuned the zmf eikon might be a good alternative, but I can’t really think of things that are too similar to it
How can this thread only have 24 posts?
I love my Cascades. The bass was overpowering at first, but my brain has adjusted nicely. I find little to no bleed into the mids. These also sound much open than my other closed backs.
On the downside, the headband is horrible and has a hot spot that will actually cause physical pain. If ordering these, try to add some Dekoni Nuggets.
I wish the cups had more clamp and I am working on that.
You don’t have to be a basshead to enjoy these, but it would help if you had some variety in your collection. I think these balance off my Grado’s nicely.
I had these briefly and found them to be unbelievably sloppy for the price point and the bass was completely overwhelming on every track I tried, and I actually bought them with the intention of getting a basshead set. But I wanted clean and fast bass and these delivered neither. The way I see people talk about them makes me think I may have had a wonky set because I wouldn’t have paid 100$ for what I heard, let alone the actual price tag.
Well it took me a while to really enjoy them. The first few weeks just made me giggle. Then I adjusted to the sound and now I just love it. I enjoy their bass like I enjoy my Grado’s mids. I don’t find bleed or slop, but maybe I am just not that fussy.
I’d say the cascades don’t provide clean fast bass like a planar can. I wouldn’t say they sound sloppy though. I can hear how the bass can creep into the mids and produce a thick dominating low end effect with a thick mid bass impact but there’s still good separation and detail.
If I was looking for fast clean bass, these wouldn’t be it.
If the bass is too thick, cloth pads dial them back and present cleaner/leaner sounding mids? They sound less thick but still provide the thump. I enjoy both pads but I’ve been loving the cloth pads for longer listening sessions.
Wow, this thread has really gone cold. I still love my Cascades, maybe even more so with new pads. I ordered the cloth and the XL leathers. I only use them now with the XL leathers.
I couldn’t wear these for a week straight like my favourites, but I can wear them for several days and enjoy them immensely.
The Nuggets make them very comfortable, but I wish they had a tighter grip on my head. If I bent over to tie my sneakers, they would fall off.
If you are a variety junkie like me, these are a must for the collection!
