I like that Hakugei cable but I won’t deal with them any longer way too many QC issues.
Those two were replacements for two other cables. So far great love the sound of the Black Warrior definitely adds a bit of detail for the top end over a pure OFCC.
These have more upper mids and treble than the graph would suggest.
The Kato nozzles are longer so there is that factor the NX8 gets deeper.
Stock nozzle suffer from bieng really short like the Himalaya.
Edit: nozzles not the problem those new eartips doing something wierd.
Also this piezoelectric driver is different from a BA tip end set , has some special zing up top.
That piezoelectric driver sounds unique, and it’s surprising how much the tips can influence the sound. Glad the Spiral Dots FX12 worked to bring everything together!
Good afternoon, is there a big difference between astell se 180 and hiby r8ii? Now I have hiby, I’m thinking of listening to astell se 180, will I lose much in the sound?
I haven’t heard the SE180, but have owned 5-6 AK DAPs.
Compared to R8ii the AK house sound is tuned more toward detailed and highly resolving mids and highs.
The one exception I know of is the Kann Max, and while it is still a high resolving DAP the mids are more subdued than other AK DAPs I have experienced.
They will typically be less warm than the R8ii, but you won’t be missing or losing anything, it’s just a different sounding tuning.
I like having different tuned DAPs to pair with different IEMs.
I am surprised that R8II is warm sounding as Hiby is usually more cold/analytical from my limited experience.
But then again there is MSEB which allows it to sound completely different If you wanted to so I’m wondering If R8II could sound like any of the other DAP you mentioned
I had 3-4 of the Hiby 6 series. They were all mids forward and “brighter”.
The only one I kept was the RS6. Still mids forward but the R2R DACs were warmer than the other 6 series.
The R8ii is tuned differently than any other Hiby DAC I have experienced. It is warm with a wide stage.
Excellent DAP IMHO, based on my personal listening preferences.
